overall... yes. Never missed the playoffs, got to watch some of the leagues best stars play, or at least play during the season... who knows where they went the past 2 post seasons. See.. I remember the rico fata / konstantin koltsov / milan kraft years. This city has been blessed like no other hockey team for the past 25 years or so. Anyone whos not satisfied needs to look at places like philly, buffalo, etc.

Well I go back to the Blair Chapman, Paul Harrison and Duane Rupp days,

If you are happy with the last 5 years that is your right. I am not happy. I feel with the talent they have had they could have done more. We choose to disagree. I could care less for Philadelphia and Buffalo. They did not have the same amount of talent the Pens had.

I look at the Steelers. 6 Super Bowls. Yes they have had chances for more but they lost to some inferior teams but at least they have 6

If you base your teams success only on cup wins...you're gonna have a bad time.

Last season and the losses to Montreal and Philly are the ones I am disappointed with. The loss to Tampa was evident when Kovalev was the best player and this season the lack of depth showed and one of the two heads responsible rolled for it.

I agree. To me it's not the losing, it's the way they've been losing in the post season. For instance, look at these Kings/Hawks games. Nobody is getting embarrassed in this series. Somebody's going to lose when they probably deserve better. I could watch another 7 games of these teams.

The Pens on the other hand, especially the last 3 years have embarrassed themselves. The Philly series was a travesty of professional hockey. Virtually zero fundamentals.

Getting swept last year. Yeah the B's were good, but getting swept was plain disgusting. That team was far too talented to get F'n swept.

This year... Blowing 3-1 leads are rare because it's hard to do. Dan and Ray have two on their resume's. Time to give someone else a chance.

the champions are definately nice, no doubt, but ultimately only a tiny part of the overall picture. being disappointed the team didn't do better is ok... but to go as far as to be unhappy over it? What it comes down to really, and basically, is that I AM happy. I am excited as well. excited that the pens have that talent and will continue through the regular season and playoffs to entertain me for years to come. That makes me happy... and if you are unhappy because your dwelling on couldabeens, then, hey, sounds like I'm a bit better off. I'll take that deal any day.

We should be so lucky. Agree. Great series from LA. Heck of a job pushing them from CHI.

If the Kings play strong and give Quick enough help they'll walk away with the hardware again.

I always got the sense Pierre was a guy who knew a lot about the players and a lot less about the game itself. He might know who is a good player and who can develop into a good player, but creating a team and a system to fit those players, in my opinion, is over his head.

I think he just reads scouting reports and junior rosters and watches some games on the road for television purposes.

And there is a lot more to scouting players than just watching tape. This has to be some kind of stunt.

As a Penguin fan, it has really been a blessing to watch this team for 30 years. However if you don't think having Lemieux, Jagr, Crosby and Malkin and tons of other all world talent with 3 cups isn't disappointing in the slightest bit then your glass is way over half way full.

I'd trade every Art Ross or Hart for another 1 to 3 cups in a heart beat. I love this team and always will, but the talent we have had has not delivered the way it should.

Shero has been getting pilled on since his firing, and a lot of it is justified. But one thing great that he did, was to build a family environment here that had trust and honesty.

He didn't burn agents, he didn't promised guys that they were core players and sign long deals, just to trade them the next season. He was honest to Bill Guerin when he told him in 2009 what they could afford to pay him, and when it was time to not resign him. He earned enough trust with past players, where guys like Max Talbot and Mike Rupp would come back to him with their best UFA offer to see if the Pens could come close. He started the tradition of sending welcoming flowers to the wives of UFA's who signed here. Just little stuff like that, which goes a long way in relationships with players and agents.

His knowledge is on the superficial level.

About Pierre, I tend to agree. The tidbits that he throws out about a player in junior or one oversees are the same every game.

I wonder how much junior hockey he sees these days. When he was working with TSN, he lived in Quebec a lot of that time. It's easy to see junior hockey games there... His wikipedia page lists him living in Connecticut, not so much junior hockey around now.

Over the last two years, I have called Gaborik soft, fragile, an enigma, a malcontent, and a waste of funds. Today, I'm his biggest fan for the coming series. I'm the biggest Kings fan. Hope they beat al Qaeda's little brother in six.

I am also hoping LA gets it done. I can't stomach a Rangers cup.

The league should just let the Hawks/Kings play 7 more and spare the Rangers the embarrassment of taking the ice against either of them.

Rangers have some rest, and I'm thinking LA will have a little bit of a let down. But there is no way that the Rangers should win this series.

I think the Rangers are a better team than anybody gave them credit for this season, but they shouldn't have any business winning this series.

It's funny ... remember the female doging Ranger fans did prior to the Penguin series about the schedule benefitting Pittsburgh, because of the Rangers' failure to take out Philly in six. Maybe the LA fans can female dog about the same thing.

Apparently Fitzgerald was interviewed along with Botteril. Something tells me that either of them could be the favorites over Brisebois or MacIver.

A source I have has spoken with Botteril a lot over the past few years and believes he should be a good candidate, if not the shoe in. He does differ from Shero in thinking about many things from what I've been told. Especially about analytics.

Should be interesting. I'd be fine with him taking over but if it's Brisebois or MacIver that'd be fine. They've both done some fine work in TB and CHI. Fitzgerald worries me a bit more than them.
