This picture confuses me. Didn't the Hawks win the Cup in Boston? Looks like the background is Chicago in this picture. - PLindbergh31
didn't they have a cup ceremony in chicago later on? |

I personally don't want Kimmo back. I think the money we'd give him for 1 more year could be better used elsewhere. - mochoson
It could, but for who? Not Bergenheim or Gaustad. For a better defenseman, certainly. But is that player going to be available? |
|
|

At least he won't get to do that if the Rangers win - PhillySportsGuy
Why wouldn't he? He didn't play in game 6 of the Cup Finals against Boston. He changed into his uniform and went out on the ice. |

Nope. That picture is from Boston. All the Hawks fans went down close to the glass. I guess most of the B's fans left. |

Here is my roster and I think it makes sense. I moved Grossmann as I think someteam could use his size and shot blocking. Also move Vinny to Nsh for Del Zotto. I think it makes sense and tried to think logically

I'd rather have him back at ~$4m for one year than sign another FA dman to a multi-year deal. - Feanor
It depends on who it is. If it's a cheaper FA dman like Anton Stralman and it's no longer than 3 years (preferably 2), I'm ok with it. He's a solid NHL dman and he's a righty.
But I tend to agree with you. |

Is he allowed to if he's suspended? - PhillySportsGuy
Good question. Not sure. I guess his suspension would be over if there was a game 7. There is zero chance he would play in that game anyway. Lets hope we don't have to have the question answered and the Western Conf. team blasts the Rags. |

Not following here. How can it still be possible if it's understood it can't be done regardless?
Here is the deal, the Flyers have to be at, or under the Upper Limit with Pronger and his cap hit counting against the Cap, on the first day of the Season, before they get the exemption. How can they do that with the roster you propose? Add the 4.9M to your roster, and how does that happen?
Regardless of if the Upper limit is 71.1M or lower. - MJL
Because I said a similar roster, meaning making similar moves. That's it. Not the same players. Not the same cap hits and contracts. Not all the same moves. Just something similar.

What's the point then? How much leeway is given for something similar? Your roster's total cap spending needs to be cut by 3-5M. Depending on what the Upper Limit winds up being. |

I think the MacDonald deal helps set the market for Stralman. He may not get as much, but close. He'll be one of the top defenseman in free agency. |

Cap wise, your roster is doable.
Here's the thing to remember. They need to maximize Pronger's LTIR. They do that by a combination of players on ELC's that are waiver exempt. And by waiving players such as Hall and Rosehill, to include Pronger on the opening day Cap. On day 1 of the season, they place Pronger on LTIR. And get the exemption. Recall the other players. All they have to do is submit a 20 man roster that is compliant on opening day. And not ncessarily the roster that they will actually start the season with. |
