No my job to find that trade. That is why they pay scouts and Hextall. But I am sure there are teams that would want him and could use skill set. I mean look at Clarkson in TO. Teams will still think they can get more out of him then we can.

I wouldn't expect many teams to match the stupid that was the Clarkson contract. That's an exceptional failure.

My natural instinct is to root for the underdog team after the Flyers are knocked out.
The Rangers are going to be heavy underdogs in the finals.
I can't root for them though. I don't really hate their team this year outside of a few players like Dorsett and Carcillo. What MSL did leaving Tampa was a little grating too. It will be weird cheering for a favorite to win. If Chicago pulls out a victory I might not watch the finals. Don't like them either.

Just saying that skill set is still needed. But hartnell used to be our net front presence. He lost that spot to Simmonds. His shot from the middle of the box on the PP was not there this year and I would prefer some of our younger core guys getting that chance now like schenn, Couturier, read as I think they all have better shots anyways.

He does. Without a doubt.

I've also heard Claude Giroux doesn't backcheck like an elite defensive player, which makes him a terrible on-ice leader.

All players have their warts. We just see ours much more clearly because we see them every game.

How green's the grass over there?

- jmatchett383

When you watch LA play, every player backchecks, and plays well defensively. Hell even Gaborik looks like a 2 way player there. Every player has bought into playing the right way, and it's obviously demanded out there. By probably both the coaches and the player leadership.
When you look at the Flyers, and their defense, what it is one way to help makeup for deficiencies there, if they can't add the personell they need? That's for the entire team to committ to taking less penalties, and becoming more consistent in terms of overall and defensive play. If they don't, there is going to be a number of defenseman on this team who will be next years whipping boys. And what is the excuse for players like Giroux, Hartnell, and others for not becoming better defensively?

Absolutely, 100%. It's why I couldn't understand the people rooting for NYR over Pittsburgh. Sure I don't like Crosby or Neal, but I'd rather them win than have 20+ Rangers, including Carcillo, win the Cup.
- jmatchett383

You are drunk, sir.

I don't despise the Rangers now. I used to hate their guts in the '90's. But that's over. I want Sidney Crosby nowhere close to another Stanley Cup.

At this point, last year was an absolute failure for Clarkson. But it's a multi year deal. This year could be completely different. Something was going on there for him to fall that far.

I cmpletely agree. Our defense might not be star studded but could be helped if the forwads helped out better.

I will always hate the Rangers. Forever. Devils are a somewhat close second.

And as someone said, their annoying fans are matched and surpassed only by Toronto ones.

Cap is likely to be below $71,100,000. And this will not allow the Flyers to keep Pronger on the roster until opening day, to maximize LTIR. And no way am I paying Gaustad that money to center the 4th line.

I think too much was expected of clarkson. He had a career year in goals with te devils and it was ssumed that would just continue. I actually think that was an aberation and he is more situated to score maybe 15-20 a year. Just my two cents

What was going on there is that Clarkson just isn't very good, and certainly not worth a big money buyout-proof deal.

This is where the Flyers need to do a better job drafting and developing players in the later rounds. I look at the LA team, and every player on that team is defensively responsible and plays within their system. They all check well. Why can't a player like McGinn become a good 4th line player, that can skate, check defensively, and get in on the forecheck? What good is it to develop McGinn as a scoring line power forward? He's likely never going to be more then a call up and a temporary fill in, at that role.
- MJL

He just doesn't have great defensive instincts and he doesn't move well enough to make up for it... like a Taylor Pyatt can.

Alderson is a guy that could maybe do what you're talking about... he moves well and he's big, and supposedly pretty good defensively.

I definitely don't think they can waste cap-space on bringing in "marquee" 4th-liners like Boyle, Moore, Fiddler, etc. Guys who can skate a regular shift on the 4th-line are a dime a dozen... no reason to spend more than you have to.

Just get Rinaldo/Rosehill out of the top-12 and the group should be much improved.

There were all sorts of weird reports on him.....like he was a loner in the lockerroom....that sort of stuff.

Who knows what's going on? I don't think Clarkson is worth what TO gave him, but there is no way he is THAT bad.
