I feel like whoever wins this series is going to be my favorite hockey team for 2 weeks.

I will live and die with the Kings or, yes, even the Hawks, until the middle of June

So Richards has been getting bagged on a lot and yet... he's one of the 6 guys on the ice trying to tie this pivotal game?

such is the disdain i have for the rangers.

although i would lay down on I 95 on a bed of thumbtacks before I recognized the rangers as the cream of the crop.

- stayinthefnnet

they do not have the horses to handle either of these teams. unless of course they manage to grab an early lead and then figure four leg lock their way to a 2-1 lead every night, which is entirely possible.

Same. I was telling BigE tonight that I want to see the Rangers get swept. I don't even want them to feel like they were close. They were the best of the garbage conference.

The level of play between what the Rangers have faced (Flyers, Pens, Habs) is nothing compared to the Hawks or Kings. They're so lucky they missed the Bruins.

injuries certainly have not been kind to the pens since their cup.

however, you guys seriously got the (frank)ing shaft there. it doesnt absolve all failure/bad signings and whatnot, but the trickle down effect from losing him so soon is hard to quantify. i'm sure he would be having a sort of gradual decline, but i still think he would be damn productive, even today. and the last two years, who knows. i know the if game is a dangerous thing to play on such a large theoretical level. but still.

at least when all is said and done, you guys didn't give up an earth shattering amount. Yeah, organizational depth suffered, and the struggle to recoup has certainly been real, but at least sbisa didnt really pan out.

the conference finals usually do, and the scf often feels like a bit of a let down, even if it goes 6 or 7.
- hammarby31

Often true, but it has been a bit better in recent years, although I can't comment on the lockout Cup since I didn't watch it.

I think it's a good final most of the time. Since the lockout, most SCF are fairly competitive.

depends how much the refs let them do. Im far from being a homer to the point to where i think their bullpoop was limited just to the pens series. its rampant.

i still literally need to laugh over the fact a SCF teams number one center is going to be bought out.

Honestly, that 2010 run was so awesome, I'd rather have that than whatever we gave up for Pronger.

Yeah. The residual effect of Pronger really hurt. They were forced to chase free agents and make unnecessary trades. I believe the D would be Pronger-Carle Timonen-Coburn right now and JVR would still be on the roster.

what i mean is that there is rarely any kind of rivalry between the two teams due to the schedule, so while it may go the distance and be competitive, it lacks an emotional punch.

it's for this reason i wish the playoff format would go back to a 1-16, like it was in 1980 that allowed the flyers and islanders to play for the cup. can you imagine a flyers-rangers cup final? i would end up in the hospital either way.

2010 will always be synonymous to me with AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAND HAALAAAKKKK SAYS NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO into a painful crescendo into my soul.

the flyers' series were at least entertaining to watch though. that would have been a damn good matchup for the pens and flyers.

could very well be. at the time, carle's was another one of those deals where it was hard to believe.

but the writing was on the wall by that point.

It's an interesting thought. The NHL seems hell bent on establishing rivalries. After the first lockout, they had the Flyers playing the Pens, Isles, Rangers and Devils 6 times each. Thats almost 1/3 of their games vs Division opponents.

They did away with that, but established the divisional playoff round to enhance the rivalries.

Did Liam just say, "only 1 team has rebounded from down 3-1 in a conference final to make it to the SCF"?
