Never heard Mayock do draft analysis. He can't possibly be as bad as that at he is doing the color on the NFL Network and Notre Dame games. He's awful.
- PLindbergh31

I like Mayock. He's made more for the analytical fan. He's going to break the plays down for you and use football terminology.

I guess you can settle for idiots like Tony Siragusa and John Lynch or a guy like Gruden who really "loves this guy"

The website is pretty much hosed now. Refreshed at 12:59 and it was good, did it at 1pm and it won't load poop.

Same here. Refreshed at 1pm....just a circle.....spinning, spinning, spinning away...

So with this being a little bit of a weaker draft compared to next year would you drop down to say 22 if a team really wanted someone and take thier 22 and get a first next year? Would you drop to say 2nd round if your getting a 1st rounder next year?
- J35Bacher

If I could swap #17 this year for projected #25-30 next year, I'd do it.

Why is 22 always the magic "drop down to" number?

Why can't it be 23? Or 21?

Or a nice round number like 25?

That's when, the first time you play that team, you run their goalie and best players as hard/often as possible.

Saw them selling Beats fresh off the factory floor on the street in China for $20. Kicking myself for not buying like 100 pairs.

I like what you said about the draft being bruatally inexact science.

I don't get worked up passed the initial knee jerk reaction of a questionable pick. For me, I look at the organization and I see professional scouts and others that get together for days and days to discuss perhaps 100s of players. This group of people are the people I trust. Sure, I look and certainly consider what OB amd PhillySportsGuy have to say, bit the reality is the Flyers end up selecting a player for sound reasons that are agreed upon by people much after than me and much more "in the loop" than I or anyone else here is, Bill included.

Bottom line is I trust the scouts and the hockey personnel and trust their justifications for making a selection.

Moreover, to the exact science thing, it's completely true. I love it when people say WE COULDA HAD PK SUBBAN INSTEAD WE PICKED KEVIN MARSHALL. well, yes, because the Flyers (and all other teams, some of them twice) passed on him for another player for reasons they deemed justifiable and sound. If they could see into the future, they would have picked Subban. He would be a top 10 pick.

You just don't know. Drafting is a lot of luck.

A big part of it is what you're using them for. If you're a musician, or do audio work on the computer box, you'll want higher fidelity headphones.

That said, ain't nothing wrong with $5 ear buds.

I think Aikman, Collinsworth and Mayock are all pretty good. Everyone has varying opinions though.

I need my color guys to understand my team as well as I do. I can't stand when a guy makes assumptions without any knowledge.

I think what is hard for the Flyers is the draft is in your barn. This draft is weaker then the next. You want to have a pick in the first round this year for all the fans that come. So if you drop out of first round, even if the right move because you get a solid pick next year, you leave the fans a little unsatisfied.

I don't pay REALLY close attention to the draft, but I usually know the first rounders in the NBA, NHL and NFL draft. I follow college football pretty closely, so I usually know all skilled position players throughout the first 5 rounds.

You really don't like Fabbri.

- PhillySportsGuy

No. He'll probably prove me wrong. He has the drive. It's not that I don't think he can play in the show maybe but he would be a bad pick for the Flyers.

If all they care about is speed than I guess they could pick him. He sneaks around the ice and can get pucks on the net. He played for a juggernaut in Geulph. Their PP was pretty amazing and he was a key.

Honestly, I could talk him up if I wanted. I just don't feel it you know? I don't like him that high. I have a hard time imagining that there aren't more than 16 players available that are better picks than him.
