Backhanzus!!!!
Regin needs to play for Versteeg..
And Bolig needs to sit as well...
Suspension for #6 for leaving his feet?!?!

You know...I though that hit was pretty similar to Seabrooks hit on Backes, except it wasn't against the boards. Looked like mostly headshot to me, but I could be totally off base with that. At the very least I think it could be looked at.

Because Saturday is the Preakness, which ties up both NBC networks.

Because NBC wants to very able to plan their schedule - knowing for certain what days the games will be is very important to them. They don't want to be wondering - on Friday afternoon - if the finals will start Sunday or not. These are heavily promoted events, and the networks want to very able to plan things out.

Because presumably the league - and the host cities - need time to prepare for the onslaught of visitors and media, and the league's promotion of its premier event.

Boy, I just keep wondering why you watch these games.

EDIT TO ADD: and Phil Pritchard was busy this week-end.

Preakness is the 7th I believe...

It's kind of strange, Sportsnet is the reason the NHL are in such a great finacial position and the league is still pandewring to a Network (NBC) that didn't want them, doesn't want them and unless hockey becomes more sellable in the Southern regions of the U.S will never want them.

Preakness was run 2 weeks ago. The Belmont Stakes is on the 7th, with California Chrome vying to be just the 12th Triple Crown winner in American racing history. NBC is going to hit the ratings lottery on 6/7/14.
This is a VERY popular horse, bred in California.....and trying to capture the TC in NY.

I'm old too and I like donnybrook better! Reminds me of bench clearing brawls in the 70's.

Yep, hockey in the South is a niche' sport and it's extremely expensive to play. With fewer rinks, warm weather, I doubt hockey takes hold in the South to any major degree ever.

They already announced that the finals are starting June 4. No horse racing this weekend. It doesn't add up.

Indeed. These last two games (if it goes that far...) are hopefully going to be nothing short of a war.

I cant remember seeing a hwk playoff OT like that....non stop end to end with outstanding chances and defending and grt discipline given the pitfalls of the 2nd period bench and blue line set-up.

yet as grt as that line of kane/shaw/saad was...their was the misfit line of sharp/zus/versteeg. One full of "OMG great" and the other full of "WTF bad"

and the deeply distressing stat of 4+ regulation goals in 4 str gmes....

another positive: kings 0-3 on the pp...but a couple those were absolute heartburn watching....they just missed

I'm wrong about about the horse racing - but I know nothing about it - the "two most exciting minutes in sports" following an interminable amount of nothing.

But I'm not wrong about the planning and promotion required and the time certainty both the league and the networks require.

I think that third line will have Sharp on it, but you've seen the last of Versteeg and Zus is a specialty player, he should be L4-C, NOTHING more....Kruger and Smith should join Sharp on Line 3...with the speed and effort of those guys with Kruger's solid work on the dot, that line would enjoy more puck possession, would be matched with lesser players (as Suter matches his best d players with our top 2 lines)...that line has the makings of something solid.

the PK sucks, despite 0-3 last night for the Kings I got the feeling they would score each time. Very lucky they didn't. Special Teams still favor them, therefore, we need to hope for 5 on 5 hockey.

Would still love to see Morin in that third group with Sharp but we all know that won't happen. Though he's not great in his own end, at this point anything is an upgrade over Versteeg and the Hawks can't play 60 mins like they did the OT with 7-8 forwards.

Sharp's hurt. I mean he has to be right? Has he ever struggled this consistently over a stretch of games? He and Morin had some fun towards the end of the season. Would love to see them reunite but it really seems like Q has little faith in number 11.

Don't know if the Hawks have enough left to take the Kings down 2 straight games but you had to love the effort last night.

And one thing they have shown the rest of the league - exactly where Jonathan Quick is vulnerable. He's very, very average when you shoot it upstairs on him.

- RickJ

I think it ends in LA. Surely hope not, but I would be very pleasantly surprised..no, shocked...if the Hawks could bring this back home for Game 7.

Hawks are a fantastic team, but for some reason they just haven't seemed to be clicking in these playoffs, especially defensively these last 3-4 games. Crawford is not as sharp, the team defence allows AT LEAST 3 or 4 goals EVERY game now. It just seems a long shot they take Game 6 in LA.

That said, these Hawks are winners. And they often FIND ways to win, even when they shouldn't. So....I hope I am wrong, I hope they find a way to bring it back home....because a Game 7 in Chi-town would be simply AWESOME!!!

You won't see Morin any in this series. Regin and Nordstrom are your likely candidates. I think Regin is as good as in for Versteeg in Game 6.

Kings are done...there's no way we're going to win another game. you guys got the start you needed. That will NOT happen at Staples Center. I would be very worried that despite your teams desperation you squandered a 2-0 and 3-1 lead. Great overtime, too bad Kopi didn't bury that one that hit the post. I'm very encouraged if you can be for a loss. Friday night handshakes are in order...

Agreed.

With what Regin has done recently, you'd have to figure he's the first one to draw into the line-up over the other two.

My wife and I go on mini vacations to check out various sports venues in the States and Canada and while in that city we'll explore the city itself as well. We have been to countless ballparks, a a few football stadiums and over half the NHL arenas. The one event we hope to see in the next few years is the Kentucky Derby even though neither of us knows much about horse racing.

Have you ever been to any of the big horse racing events in the U.S or at Woodbine?

My hope Ver-stink takes a cushioned seat in the pressbox. So who plays in his place?
- hockey nut 28

What's more amazing is they survived him, not the Kings. He is an absolute train wreck out there. It's the definition of insanity to keep throwing him out there and Q deserves what he gets (puck in the back of our net) for continuing to do so.

I said it after the 2nd game of the series. Put somebody on Kane's line he can pass the puck too (Saad & Shaw) and watch the Kings conversion on Kane cost them.
