Do you know that there wasn't? Id take him as a backup hell id trade RFA Riemer for him. I do get what your saying but if Snow could not make a deal then hes pretty terrible as a GM.

Random Fact of the Day: Defense is NOT offense
- LetsGoIsles

Exactly.. since when is the offensive stats the indicator on how well the prospect defends his zone???

its a quote from someone else.. so no HE wasn't wrong, the person he quoted was wrong.. hence the reason he is flaunting the quote...

Why would they lose him for free? They'll make him a qualifying offer and keep his rights. The funny thing is you probably never watched him play and you are going to argue with guys who watched every one of his games. That's great he put up good numbers in a shatty tournament. Hopefully he can build off that. Let him go to Russia and work on his game and when he is ready I'm sure the isles will be willing to bring him back.

while im no prude and understand that players care a lot about the money (assuming thats what happened) it just comes off as super douchy and a terrible way to conduct yourself professionally. if he ever wants to come back to the NHL, this is a giant black eye for him -- i think.

then again, if he turns into patrick roy, no one will care.

he obviously has an elevated perception about himself, no argument. He's not NHL ready. But if I were a sports agent, I wouldn't exactly say I have faith in the Isles current management and if an opportunity came along for my client to go elsewhere, I wouldn't discourage it. On paper, this team has a decent lineup and lots of prospects but again, if you're gonna go with Capuano as your head coach, something reeks about this organization's true commitment to winning. It's not a financial issue. I don't believe that for one minute and its' become horribly evident that until Wang sells or the Isles lose 20 in a row, that we're stuck with Cappy, which means this team can't turn that proverbial corner. I'd expect they improve over last year but I don't expect us to be making playoffs in the send off year at the Coliseum.

Of course its about money. He is going to make 10x the money playing in Russia then he can in the AHL. There might be other concerns but to say it has nothing to do with money is a little shortsighted IMO.

My remark about the financial issue was in regards to keeping Cappy as coach. Not Nilsson. Yes, he will make more in the KHL but he forced their hand in regards to staying up with the big club, so I don't think his main motivation is based on money—it's more ego, no?

i agree except i think it was money bc he clearly wants to play in the NHL, IE he demanded being on the roster not necessarily starting, hell get paid in the KHL and the money hell make is more valuable then being in the NHL-- thats what i read between the lines...also IMHO, if (when?) isles sign a top 4 dman, i think theyll be in the playoffs.

oh...and cappy sucks donkey Richard

Exactly how many Islanders games have you watched? The guy has 23 NHL games under his belt and because of one tournament you say he's ready? Are you his agent, because he said the same stupid thing. You know what he's ready for? Another year in Bridgeport.

Because the Isle dont have any good D in the pro's He wanted to play for a team he can have success with. Halak wont help much this year unless you land a stud D and no one is available that would help besides Dion Phanuef and he overpaid and a 2nd pairing guy.
- jake24242

Stopped reading after this. You obviously have no clue what you're talking about. Sure this team has defense issues but there is NHL level talent here. If you had watched more than 5 seconds of an Islander game you'd know that. Yet you'd probably never admit it. Please go away.

Islanders are taking dal colle I'm guessing if Calgary doesn't at 4. Would you guys agree as the islanders prospect depth at wing doesn't compare to your C or D depth?

Face facts this team needs an experienced vet forward who knows what it really takes to train properly and win in the NHL, not some kid with a couple of years under his skates. You don't trade for a player like that but get one whom WANTS to be here as a UFA. A guy that comes to mind as that type of leader now is Callahan, not someone like that smiling cadaver Moulson.

You do not seem to understand playing against teams with no NHL caliber players made him look good. He was awful in the NHL for at least one period every game. He's not NHL caliber, not yet and did not deserve a roster spot handed to him.
