Bergevin needs to decide if this run was a fluke or if it was the initial opening of Montreal's Price/Subban-anchored window. so does he make improvements looking short term or long term? the one thing that i think no one wants to see, is this team come back intact next year, minus Vanek. i think spending our available $$ on re-signing Markov and Gionta would be a huge mistake.

Markov and Gio are weird cases.

Markov can still play good minutes... maybe not top minutes and he would need a better partner to remain efficient.

Gio ? at the right price he could still help... but it kinda makes sense to swap him for a bigger shutdown guy. Clearly if he stays his role will be on the 3rd line.

i think for it to be both, you need a strong, strong stable of prospects constantly challenging for jobs or available to trade. Montreal doesn't have that.
