Lucic was 16-17 in his first year of junior not 18-19... - AdamFrench
Ya I know, but they were in similar situations in terms of role and ice-time. Age means a lot less than experience and situation if you ask me. |

Yes. Best 19 year old 34 points OHL first round pick ever. Just needs to be playing 40 minutes a night and he'll show everybody.
Sounds like EK and his Briere love. |

All I was originally saying was that there's no reason to call McCarron a bust because his first year in junior playing in a limited role wasn't great.
I brought up Lucic because he said he wanted to play a similar style of game. Could have been almost any first year junior player. Most first year junior players are placed in the bottom 6 and don't have great seasons as they get used to the league and don't see a ton of ice-time.
The age thing doesn't make much of a difference in my opinion because it's about their situations being the same. All you could really argue is McCarron was going into it slightly more mature. Saying someone should be better than someone else placed in the same position solely because they're 2 years older is pretty idiotic. |

Way to spin it all out of context

It wasn't his first year in junior. He played in the USHL the year before.
In the OHL the difference between a 16 year old rookie and an 18 year old one is night and day.
McCarron came to London with the hopes that they had snagged a top-6 power forward...he failed. And no, 18 year olds aren't placed in the bottom-6 automatically because they're rookies. Wtf is that? Galchenyuk was a 16 year old rookie in the OHL and he was on the first line immediately...why? Because he was good. Lucic sucked at 16 and nobody denies it, McCarron sucked at 16 too, but he did so in the USDP. |

Honeybaked U18 MWEHL 38 6 12 18
MCCARRON AT 16 AGAINST?? U18 players in some pissant league, look at those elite numbers, watch out Lucic, while you had to play against the CHL's best, McCarron was busy playing against baked people eating honey and sucking at it. |

I don't see those as comparable. USHL isn't great preparation for the CHL, most especially the OHL.
But at least you're making valid points in terms of why he should have been better beyond that fact that he's "2 years older."
Gally also didn't have much competition for a top 6 spot in Sarnia at the time, but I agree McCaron would have been given top 6 minutes had he been good enough. London was fairly talent heavy as well though.
I never once denied that he had a disappointing season. But giving up on him because he had a bad year his first year playing Canadian junior hockey is stupid. Might as well pull your kid out of school if they don't do well in their first year at a new level. |

McBuston - mr.peanut
Maybe
I haven't said anything definitive on whether or not he's a bust, simply that it's too early to say. I can't be wrong regardless of how he turns out. |

He may not be a bust, but they reached on him because they thought he was the best big guy available when it was their turn to pick. |

I don't know why they didn't wait...they had 3 picks in the second round, with the 34th and the 36th. He would have probably still been available. |

Strong game definitely but again very disappointing that her and her opponents didn't scissor on court after the match.
