When does he EVER let one up like that against the Flyers. Seriously.

Gotta give it to Turtleneck though making that happen. That was pretty sweet.

Flyers could also maybe move back to add more picks and grab him.

One player I do like is Kevin Fiala

I'd have no problem with trading down to add more picks. Their prospect cupboard is still pretty bare, especially at forward

Not a huge difference, really, in 17 & 23, either.

I've heard him knocked because of his size. But yeah, he'd definitely be a guy I'd consider at 17 if he's there.

Yup, could certainly see him on the left side with Schenn or Couturier and Simmonds in a year or 2

Very true and they have a pretty good track record with forwards taken late in the 1st round

Takes two to tango, but in Hockey I think that would be a wise position unless a guy you really love is available at your pick. I read that the hit rate on 40-100 is similar. Of course I have no idea if that is true.

So since the off season is so boring and armchair GM is the only thing to pass the time, what do you guys think of this Roster?

Hartnell/Raffl - G- Voracek
Raymond - Schenn - Simmonds
Hartnell/Raffl - Coots - Read
Rinaldo - Any 4th line UFA(600k) - Hall
Rosehill

Streit - Coburn
Schenn - AMac
Timonen - Grossman
Lauridsen

Mason
Peters/Emery

So this assumes we trade Vinny, retaining 1.25 mill of Salary. Sign Raymond 1-2 mill, Schenn at 2.5 mill, resign Hall and grab a 600k 4th line Center (Halpern, Steckel ect). Resign Timonen at no more than 3 mill for 1 year and use Lauridsen as a 7th D since that is likely his career potential. For Backup we grab someone cheap for under 1 mill.

I'd consider it even if it was a pick next year. Say the 17th pick for the 23rd or so and a second rounder in 2015.

and the Flyers will take a guy ranked in the 40's anyhow.

in all seriousness, lots of interesting names out there. I would like them to draft a highly skilled guy.

Yeah, it's a nice feather for a draft age kid to play in the WCs, no doubt.

I'm valuing skill over size, even with my endorsement of Tuch

Just reading through some of the questions fans asked Berube today. It doesn't sound like Read will be getting a chance on the top line. He wants a physical guy on the line and isn't happy with that aspect of the top line.

That is a very interesting comment to me because I can only see Hartnell filling that role. But at the same time I think they've soured on Hartnell a bit. I suppose they could give Simmonds a shot at LW but I think they like him just where he is.

I really wouldn't be surprised to see a move for a LW at the draft.

I'd like to see Simmonds and Voracek flip. Give that second line a dynamic guy who can control the puck, create offense and drive possession and then perhaps with Giroux at 5 on 5, Simmonds can be more productive outside of the PP, where he excels. Still need a winger for the left side, but then maybe it'd be easier to promote Read.

I can see a team like the Red Wings going with a Tuch type player just because he's going to college & they won't mind with the wealth of talent they already have coming.

Exactly! I think I made this point last night, actually. I think Jake and Schenn could be a good 2/3rds of a line
