Don't know that that offer is enough though.

I honestly don't believe the Lightning will make a MAJOR trade for the defenseman we need. It will either come via minor trade, UFA or internally. Yzerman doesn't have singular vision and won't fixate on one guy.

How bout this?

Vancouver gets:
One first rounder in this and next years draft,
Third rounder this year
Brett Connolly
Nikita kucherov or teddy Purcell or Vladislav namestikov

Tampa gets:
Alex elder
Ryan kesler
4th rounder in this years draft

Each team gets something they need. Tampa gets a top 4 D who is solid offensively and defensively as well as a strong, gritty player in kesler who could easily pitch in 30g and 25a with Tampa, if not more as they are a far better offensive club than Vancouver.

Vancouver can start their rebuild the right way with 2 additional first rounders, giving them 4 in the next 2 drafts, plus an extra mid round pick never hurts. They also get a strong player with good potential in Connolly who, although hasn't proven himself in the nhl yet, he could very well become a player much like kesler. Vancouver Would get their choice of a solid, if unspectacular and proven nhl scorer who could prob get 40-50pts for the next several years( he's only 28). Or a more dynamic but unproven goal scorer in kucherov or namestikov who could legit angle be a 35g guy one day.

What's everyone think?

Pass. Kesler is done, and the nucks will overvalue him as they did with Lou. Dont really see the point in trading for a center and use him as a forward. How about

Gudlevskis, Purcell, 1st
for
Adam Larsson

Give Heddy a swedish mate

id much rather go after voynov in LA but the chances of him leaving are less than zero. heard a lot about shattenkirk too as a possible target. maybe even myers or erhoff in buffalo

we would be giving up 3 first round picks for them. i say lose one of the firsts and purcell is included. 1st, 3rd, connolly and purcell and u can drop the 4th. and i say done deal

For both Kesler and Edler? Canucks would get more if they moved them separately. I'm not a fan of packing Kesler with one of our dmen.

kesler really isnt needed so im not going to offer up part of our restocking our farm for him. these 4 first rounders are huge for us these next two years. we have 6 picks in the top 60 next two years thats insane. our ahl guys are graduating now and we need to restock the farm. that shows by how syracuse did last season after back to back calder cup final appearances.

I see Tokarski is coming back to earth. I like him.... A lot, but he's swimming in the deep end right now. Yes he's made some excellent saves, but he's also having a few Lindback moments. I hope he pulls it out so MeMe St. Selfish-pants goes home to Conneticut without a cup.

Yikes, so we move our second best forward/center and arguably our most skilled offensive D-man who is 27-28 years old for two late firsts and the choice of either a over the hill Purcell and a prospect or two with zero NHL experience?

I agree the potential is there in relation to the TB prospects, but at this point in time that is an absolute and utter rape. The fact that you personally don't see the need of Kesler does not diminish his league-wide value.

Kesler wants out new management that wants to shake things up and doesnt have the personal investment in him... I think his value is lower than canucks fans want to admit otherwise he would have been moved at the deadline. New management will probably take less than the old one. And edler had a terrible season I cant see him having a lot of value right now either. You should probably take a couple firsts and high ceiling prospects. Not saying that's a winning package but I can't see it being what most Vancouver fans think. Won't get a top prospect roster player and first for kesler like they were asking for at the deadline

And you guys sucked the lockout year. Doesn't mean the players on your team aren't worth anything, especially in a new system.
