Your guess, or legit information?
- Michael_Stuart

LOL @ people that think Stamkos is even attainable... especially for Hamhuis (okay top 4), Kesler (complimentary top line guy) and spare parts.
- OzBolts

We are being sarcastic. No one truely expects a Stamkos trade.

You're going to need to repeat that a few more times, I think.

I'm so confused.

You have solid info about Callahan re-signing or no?

Hamhuis is the perfect top three guy. Kesler is a good top six forward. Kassian is loaded with potential. The sixth pick will have lots of potential. Tanev is a solid top four/five guy.

The Stamkos stuff is all sarcasm. Nobody thinks he's available.

EDIT - Kassian is the sort of prospect the Lightning (and most teams, for that matter) are missing. Maybe Erne develops into that guy.

EDIT x2 - No, I'm not suggesting that we deal Stamkos for Kassian.

- Michael_Stuart

All true, most notably the Stamkos related jargon

i say kesler and bieksa for our 1st this year, connolly, barberio, nameshnikov, and rights to callahan and lindback. no more than that. otherwise id rather just bring vinny back for pretty much the same money and we could get him for practically nothing.
- boltsfan48

Rights are worth nothing in player deals like this, you may only get a late draft pick for those and like Michael said, bieksa is not tradeable, he is a Canucks lifer.

Agree that the package isn't enough, but let's not call Namestnikov a "Russian question mark." And Connolly isn't exactly "career injured," either.
- Michael_Stuart

Namestnikov has no NHL career yet, is undersized at his position and is Russian.... That's a big IF in today's competition with the KHL if he can't play the NHL game.... Brett Connolly is gifted... But he was brittle in his juniors and he couldn't keep with the big club. He has a strong chance of being a bust.

He's a Russian who has lived in North America since he was eight months old. When asked about going back to Russia after being selected in the KHL draft he responded with: "I'm not going back there to play." He's not unlike any other Canadian Hockey League prospect. He's on a solid development path.

Connolly just might be a bust, but I'm not quite willing to give up on a player who was the team's best at training camp last year at 22 years old.

I think he is saying he has legit info about the trade deal with the Habs through a agent friend and that the Callahan stuff is speculation based on the TB Times saying Yzerman is talking with Ryans agent this week.

Im not so sure about the Habs deal if it were true, who would be the prospect going back the other way to make that deal I assume it would be a goalie to make sense and that would be Gudlevski. So we get Bourque who is a big winger but his number continue to decline for two years, a AHL defensemen who I don't know is close to NHL ready and a .900 career backup goalie with only one year left on his deal. Yes we lose Teddy but that prospect makes all the difference in this trade.

EDIT: I will say that Bourque has upside to get back to his Flames days and be a big winger scoring threat with the Bolts, for some reason the Bolts put up goals on offense since exception and a change of scenery could do that for Rene.

I don't see that Montreal deal as one that makes sense. Maybe I'm wrong.

I agree I am doubtful of that trade but if it does happen I guess its one of those Ill give you my guy who hasn't lived up to the contract for your guy who hasn't lived up to the contract. Its the Bolts prospect depending who it is and other parts on the Habs side I don't think works at all. So saying that I think I am saying I would take Bourque for Purcell straight up, seems kinda crazy but Bourque brings size which we sorely lack on the top 9 and Purcell I am done watching him at the forum.

Charles Landry is the prospect name I was told montreal wants! the whole kicker in the deal is tampa does not want Bourque! but montreal wants his salary gone with purcell coming.

I think it's a plan because they doubt they can get callahan resigned Tampa gets Bourque, Peter Budaj and Greg Pateryn Montreal gets Teddy Purcell and Charles Landry. Money wise it works for both sides pretty even tampa gets a one year contract vet goalie.

why would you want a guy that cant even crack 20 points anymore?
Bourque was great in Calgary but a complete bust in Montreal.

Teddy Purcell is soft and afraid, where as Bourque isn't.

Thanks for the clarification and update. Its really interesting, thanks for the info. I will be watching to see how this plays out. If Bourque does come to Tampa and played our style of offense maybe he can be a scoring threat again like with the flames.

Pass. Kesler is done, and the nucks will overvalue him as they did with Lou. Dont really see the point in trading for a center and use him as a forward. How about

Gudlevskis, Purcell, 1st
for
Adam Larsson

Give Heddy a swedish mate

Of course potential has value.

Does Drouin have value? He hasn't done anything in the NHL. But he's got value. There are varying levels of potential. The amount of 'potential' that was included in some of the previous threads wasn't nearly enough to net the players we were talking about.

Don't know that that offer is enough though.
