He may be someday....not now. There are 10 dmen I would rather have before him...

Keith
Chara
Subban
Larsson
Doughty
Karlsson
Suter
Weber
Kronwall
Pietrangelo

Then

Seabrook
Letang (when healthy)

Right now he's probably equal to Hjalmarsson

Not trolling.....you offering a difference of opinion....is that not allowed in Rangerland?
- UnnamedSource

you must be naive or something. What did you honestly expect when you argued that Mac is inferior to the top 3 dmen on the hawks on a rangers discussion forum? even if that were objectively true, its finals season and people are generally more concerned about flaunting the positive aspects of their team. When you disagree for the sake of disagreeing, people are going to get defensive. I would get the same reaction if I went to the hawks board and starting questioning the superiority of one of the hawks top players.

Did you notice I stated he's a good dman and one day will be a top 5 when it's all said and done...

My point is....not now....doesnt mean he's bad......

You don't think I know where the Rangers weaknesses are? I didn't say he was a top 5. Somebody else did. You didn't offer any arguments as to why Mac isn't a top 5. I'll give you a few: he's still too young and his offensive game hasn't matured completely yet. He's on the right track. I still like him better than most young d.

In my opinion, Mac is better than both those players. It is not just based on stats, he is a leader capable of captaining the Rangers. He shuts down top players on a nightly basis. He is consistent. He is physically durable. He is fast. He is level headed. He is extremely detail oriented, and most importantly, he is not even close to his peak yet.

Agreed but as I said one day he will be a top 5....give him a few more years. I still stand by my list.

I watch the Rangers a lot....and agree with most of what you are saying. However how much of Hjalmarsson have you seen? He's incredible....sacrifices himself and on any other team he would be playing on the top D unit.

Um yes. And he was playing on his off-side most of the tourney. But you're right though I'd much rather have hjalmarrson or Faulk

I've see a lot of hawks games. He is good but I would compare him more to Girardi. Mac is much more well rounded.

edit: I'm watching the hawks right now actually

I still think he has some raw edges to his game..he is well rounded but nothing he does is elite...yet.

i disagree. His shutdown game is elite. offensive zone awareness is still getting there, but certainly above average.
