Briere says Vigneault's no update on Stepan is "fishy" & refers to "all this complaining" about how #NYR deserved an early power play

#Habs' Daniel Briere: "Ryan McDonagh's a great defenseman, but I haven't seen someone slash that much since Chris Pronger played."

Renaud Lavoie tweets that Michel Therrien was “upset”/”furious” that Rangers assistant coach Ulf Samuelsson was watching the Montreal practice at MSG

- jimbro83

Smart move. Therrien gets worked up over poop like that and it seems to be working.

Pronger averaged 1.36 PIM's per game over his career. Mcdonagh, .47 PIM per game to date.

These quotes coming out from practice today get better & better. Guess Briere had no problem with Subban;s hacking at Nash.

edit-and Briere knows prongers hacks well.

#canadiens Michel Therrien in french:"we expect Derick Brassard to play and we know exactly where he's injured. Hockey is a small world."

Sounds like a threat to me.

NO WAY are the Rangers doing anything but trying to score the next goal tomorrow night, by the second I am wanting a series victory so much more.

That was an injury where it couldn't be hidden, he fell on his shoulder & you saw immediately the staff work his shoulder/back on the bench. Whatever, man I wish this game was right now!

I gotta say, I hope the Rangers run up the score tomorrow like they did in game 1. Probably won't happen. Expect it to be close, but I hope it's a runaway.

Now I know he sent Prust to run Stepan, he just gave away his poker face which was ugly as frank to begin with

I never wanted to see a series victory more than I do right now. Rangers just gotta take it one game at a time.

I never read Therrien's comments on the hit until this morning...what a clown he is

- TPC

the fact that the thought is that Prust finished his check, when in fact there was no check to finish, is just mind boggling. Even in Quintel's review he points out that Prust changes course AFTER Stepan release the puck ...
I understand that coach's want to protect their players, but this is a moment where I miss Torts type of honesty ... just call a boneheaded play a boneheaded play and be done with it. Did he go out of his way to hit him, yes. Did he what to bruise him, yes. did he want to injure him? well, only Prust can answer that.

I never thought I would really start to hate a franchise outside of the metro...but it has only taken 3 games for it to build

Wow. I want to apologize to the Penguins community. The Habs are way worse as far as bs goes. Now I am getting an inkling I why the Bruins hate them so much. Holy poop.

That's playoff hockey for you. The later in a playoff run you get the more you hate the other team you are playing.

Dude. I'm with you on your hatred for Montreal. Wow. I'm livid right now. What a bunch of babies. Honest to god. Starts with their coach. Then he threatens Brassard. I'm calling 5-0. After 2 then watch the hack n slash for the 3rd.

Gamesmanship continuing on both sides today. Rangers contingent shows up at Habs practice and they get all upset. As if the Canadiens are implementing some secret new super strategy to beat the Rangers at this late point in the season. Sure the Rangers coaches were just trying to antagonize the Habs at this point.

Even last year, I never hated Boston. They were just better and bigger then the Rangers. I accepted that. But everything the Habs do just rub me the wrong way.

Therrien talks about gentlemens agreements. Does that include intentionally trying to hurt the opposition or openly asking for "breaks"?

Also a veiled threat to Brassard, suggesting that the hockey world is a small one and they know where Brassard's injury is. It's one thing to know that; it's entirely another to say it publicly. If any Habs player appears to target Brassard then the NHL needs to suspend Therrien. He sits there and says Kreider assuredly didn't try to hurt Price and the certainly Prust didn't intend to hurt Stepan but then he says that and apparently that's the second time in the postseason he has talked about a player's injury like that.
