It was dirty. Stupid. All of the above. But he ACTUALLY was penalized. It wasn't like Prusts, that was a premeditated ATTEMPT to injure, almost an attack. And he succeeded. Prust was basically like a snake, he looked for prey and when that prey least expected it....boom!!! This was honestly one of the dirtiest hits from a player I've even seen. It made Matt Cooke look like a lady byng type player. Any MTL fan who can't tell the difference in this hit vs the Emelin Pouliot play and of course the Kreider "lemme kill the goalie attempt" you guys wanna portray...are out of your minds. Because your a MTL fan, being knowledgable I'd think, you couldn't possibly put the Purst hit in that same stratosphere. If you do then your a jaded hab fan who has no idea how to be rational with yourself. And I understand fans do that all the time an I do too, but sometimes the evidence has to overcome the jadedness.
The ref missing that call basically changes the whole complexion of the game in one fell swoop.
A) thwarting any potential momentum they could've gotten from a 5 minute PP. they could it a 1000 different ways. And we all know that momentum changes on a dime in playoff games.
B) because he missed the call, the rangers become enraged, focus on revenge instead of the task at hand (Prust ultimately wins in that case as do the Habs) because the whole team basically wants to kill Prust. If a penalty is called, Carcillo doesn't act like that (he deserves 10 games)...and more then likely plays on like any normal playoff game. If this hit is legal, kudos to Prust and the rangers can at least deal with it and not become angered out if their minds. Because of no penalty and the kind of it, any team would react they way the rangers did
C) the Habs lose one player in turn hurting their chances of winning the game. What happens? The opposite..Carcillo is out of the game instead. Utter BS
point is this hit basically incites a war all because of a blind, or dare I say, MTL fan referee. Which I'm not 100% dismissing. Call me crazy. He was right in front of him. This Joannette scumbag is awful, and I said this long before this game last night. Only reason I say that is because I've never in my life remembered a referees name until this wiener. I'm not usually one to blame officials. This guy is a horror show, he really is
If this topic is over done today I apologize because I hadn't been on in fear of a yearly ban for what I fully expected to get once I engaged with Bingo Lady or someone. - Slimtj100

But the system corrects itself. It's not perfect but Prust won't play the next 2 games. - andrest
10 games for "abusing an official" (and deserved) 2 games for breaking a players jaw with a blindside hit to an unsuspecting player=RIDICULOUS |

Regardless of if you believe two games is enough of the suspension for Prust, what it does show once again is that the officials totally screwed up last night. So you have a play that does not result in a penalty called, but warranted a suspension. Great job by the officials once again - airjan23
The league is a joke. Such a terrible job by the on ice officials and the "Player Safety Department". |

Aren't a majority of NHL officials born in Canada? Then why don't the Canadian teams all make the playoffs every year and bull right through the playoffs to the finals? - bodiva88
I don't know, but I am watching the replay of the hit and actually seeing that this Quebec born referee was looking right at it.
The "we didn't see it" excuse doesn't fly for me because he is looking directly at it.
just trying to find some other reasonable explanation why there wasn't a penalty. |

If there weren't a mandated suspension for abuse of official, you know that wouldn't have been 10. It's like the stupid 4 mins if you bleed. |

Prust out for two games, lets make it poetic justice, end this series by Game 5. Had enough of this Habs team. |

Jimbo, I agree he was looking right at it, but I think like your bro said, this guy has literally been the worst ref all playoffs, and for a long time. Don't think it was anything to do with him being French. But that's just my opinion. He just should not be reffing in the NHL period. |

if a player momentarliy took one hand off his stick in front of him he would have called that in a heartbeat though |

Can you remember ever being this mad over a hockey play or game? I can't, still seething almost 24 hours after the outcome. |

this is it, I was really mad over Dave Brown-Tomas Sandstrom back in 1987, but I had a mullet then too, so you know how that goes |

It would be easier to accept if the NHL would address what the linesmans handling of Carcillo as being way over the line. Take some responsibility.

And that's why he should never ref another game. He is awful.
Edit: And judging by a google search, almost every other teams fans feel the same way. |

LOL at Habs fans using Carcillo suspension to justify Prust's actions. Its not as if Carcillo went after someone on their team!
Or did he? |

And the best part is you aren't the biggest Stepan fan.
I thought maybe it was just me being biased because he is my favorite Ranger.

Stepan had 18 Pims this year. Probably the cleanest player on the team. Never missed one game since he entered the NHL. such a cowardly act that Therrien
ordered him to be targeted. |

I think his jaw broke from hitting the ice - 2 games was for a seriously late/blind side hit. More games would have come had they made the call that he targeted and hit the head. From slow-mo, it seems he got him in the chest and the major damage came from the fall. Nevertheless, lame play by Prust. |
