If I jump in the ocean and their is no water in the ocean then I won't get wet , that is about as valid as basing something off what might have happened vs what did.

The fact is, the Flyers did win that shootout and then had a great run to within 2 games of the cup as much as that annoys you.

I missed you guys! Was in San Francisco for the last week and had no hockey talk.

If Boucher loses the shootout to Lundqvist, (which he would probably 90 times out of 100) Holmgren's tenure is basically a whole lot of nothing.

What if the Flyers win the lottery and get Kane instead of JVR? What if Pronger and Mez never suffer devastating injuries? What if Lavi plays Bob the entire first round and he looks solid?

With Laviolette in the fold, do you think the following would fill some Nashville needs?

Couturier, Hartnell and Lecavelier for Seth Jones and 2014 2nd, 2015 2nd?

I would also explore Coburn's trade value again if we can keep Kimmo at under $4M. He may be able to restock the cupboard with a body and a pick or 2 picks, possibly someone's 2015 1st. I think that we have made our bed with Streit's and Mac's contracts. Having off-season surgery will put us in a weak position regarding Grossman's trade value. I think Schenn is a keeper (both Schenn's - Brayden needs to be challenged to step up to the next level during his contract negotiations).

Sign a fast, large forward to skate with Giroux. If you keep Jake on that line, I wouldn't care if he had Roberto Duran's hands. The purpose would be to create space on the ice, score from 3 feet out and not take stupid offensive zone penalties. I would explore the more interesting UFA's like Moulson, though.

Couturier is great and all, but I'd rather have a shot at a perennial Norris candidate over someone who most likely will peak at a Handzus level and that is not a knock on Handzus or Couturier. If Laughton can step in at 75%-80% of Couturier's defensive abilities, I'd be happy.

2014-15 pairs:
Kimmo/Jones
Mac/Grossman
Streit/Schenn

2015-16 pairs:
Ghost/Jones
Mac/Schenn
Streit/Morin

What would Nashville want with Hartnell and VL? Jones holds much more value than that.

NOPE.

First your not getting Jones as he is there cornerstone dman when Weber leaves or is done.

Second why would they want both of Hartnell and Vinnys contracts.

Third I think your selling Couturier short as he is our best all around forward and at his age for him to be so good on the d side is hard to find.

Fourth if you think Jones has Norris potential why the hell would Nashville trade him. Look at it from the other side and say if your nashville would you want that deal.

If there was no water it wouldn't be an ocean.

Had the Flyers finished the job and won the Cup, Holmgren would have been viewed much differently. Just the nature of the business.

I was pointing out the fact that Holmgren was GM for 7 years, the Flyers made one run during his tenure. He did inherit a mess, so that has to be taken in consideration as well.

HA! I was supposed to be focused on a trade show I was at.
Then as I walking down the street with a few people I heard them mention how Price was out for the series and that got me right back in.

They would have taken Kane. They needed offense so badly and Kane was the guy putting up ridiculous numbers in Juniors

They were taking Kane. It was all but determined by the draft the Kane was number one and then it was either JVR or Turris at 2

They had Giroux in hand, and were getting ready to get Briere... they might have wanted to go big.

Kane was consensus #1, but not by a mile.

I bet they would have taken Kane. There is no way of knowing unless Homer comes out and says it.
