So because the league forces him to wear it because of his age he should just take the extra penalty? Yeah talk about fair....

As a rookie in the league he took on all comers. And won the majority of his bouts. Ask Westgarth how tough Gaz is.

Give me a break with the "rookie taking on all comers" bs, he's 25 years old ffs. I'd be pretty fearless too if I didn't have to worry about taking any serious blow to the face during a fight.

Didn't the Flames have some prospect tough guy that was supposed to be the big shot of the league? Them he kissed MacIntyre right on the knuckles .

Cherry sure doesn't agree with you

http://blogs.edmontonjour...isor-off-before-fighting/

If both fighters take of their helmets, then there is no "extra" penalty...moot point

- Saskabush

The NHL after the guys took each others helmets off said they would come down on that too.

And the older guys that dont get forced to wear visors? Like McGratten? Will they take theirs off even though they dont have a visor? Its not an equal field. So call Gazdic a douche for not taking his visor off but many others in the league dont as well and its because of the NHL's chicken poop rules not because Gaz is a douche.

Oh ffs. Youre too much. Not his fault. He wouldnt wear one if he wasnt forced to. As I said. Lets hear all your hypocritical bullpoop when your own guys are forced to wear them.

I want to find some article to argue that you cant/or its dumb to offersheet a player if he has qualifying rights, based on time lines, such as if he signs an offersheet you still own his rights during the match period, so why not just qualify him or file him for arbritration, you dont have to match the offersheet since you still have his rights. Doesnt tht just supercede any offersheet?

Like in Nashville with Weber how he had arbriation rights and was awarded a 1year 7.5m and then the next season he signed the Philly offersheet.

But thats too much work and research right now

Do I think McGratten would? Yes

If he doesn't then Cherry will be questioning his honor, as would I.

Do I expect him to take it off in a heat of the moment scrap? No, of course not. But a planned scrap against another 4th line enforcer, you bet I do, and I don't think there are many guys in that role who wouldn't even it up and do the same for him because they understand that he is forced to wear the visor.

So when Wolf fights in a real NHL game and doesnt remove his visor you'll be on here calling him a douche?
- Iggysbff

Hey, maybe he and Gazdic can head but teach other

And no, I wouldn't be impressed, I just hope he would pick his spots and if the situation warranted it it, take the penalty and beat the living crap out of the opponent.

Shoulda just responded to you on this thread

No need to do the research, a potential lottery team offersheeting a guy and giving up 2 firsts would be the dumbest decision in the history of hockey.

There must be some good pop off visors coming out soon you'd have to think. This protects the players heads from the ice, and their hands from the visor. Win-win

Although I hate the Flames

After watching the Germany-US game, I was impressed with Gaudreau's speed and shiftiness in tight on the boards and in the corner. Will that translate? I'm not sure. But for where you guys picked him, he absolutely oozes skill. If he can build himself like St. Louis, he very well could have a career.

Also, for others that watched, what was your takeaway from Draisaitl's game?

Go troll some other page man. I watched Gaudreau play at the development camp last year and to be quite honest he reminds me of Patrick Kane the way he handles the puck. He still has lots to learn and needs to grow but he's got the skill. Obviously he's not Kane level (yet?), I don't see him having the same type of shot as Kane, but he's works magic with the puck.

I watched him, and Baertschi and Granlund (arguably the top 3 offensive prospects at the camp), and we all have an idea of the later two, Gaudreau surpasses them in puck skills.

And don't get me wrong, Omark looked promising at first and he has some good hands, but I'm not sure he has the same hockey I.Q. as Gaudreau. JG is really good at finding the puck, his team mates and the open ice. Not sure Omark was ever able to do that very effectively. (can't say 100% because I barely saw him play but from what I saw). Only time will tell, but putting down our prospects just for the sake of stirring sh*t up is lame.

Don't get so butthurt....if I had a dime for every undersized college/Jr/Euro phenom that was supposed to be the best player not in the NHL underwhelm in the bigs I could buy a pack of smokes.....having said that, I hope he does well and plays a key role in the Flames rebuild.

One of four highlight real worthy plays that game. Patrick Kane comparison is not really that far off, kids got hands, and can thread the puck through a needle.

You guys should check out some Robbie Schremp highlight from Junior, since you like sick moves so much.

Different positions, but I see a Johnny G - Sammy G comparison. Both good, but not great, undersized, quality but under and over appreciated by their teams fan bases. Will take time to tell from the Flames camp, but we'll all see in about 3 years.

Ya, to bad Schremp never learned how to play hockey. Gaudreau seems to have the hockey iq that could lead to success.

I will still point out that JG isn't going to be a St. Louis, Patrick Kane, or even a Theo Fluery. Those guys are built like rocks. JG is just small all around. He will be closer to a Tyler Ennis (most likely), Sergei Samsanov (great player but plagued with injury), or if we are lucky Paul Karyia (spelling?).

However, at the prospect camp last year he looked good playing on a line with Monahan. He even was blocking shots. However, ive only seen him in the prospect game and two boston college games so it is a small sample size.

I would like to point out I think Porier might actually have the highest cap of all our prospects (including Monohan). Just unbeleivable break away speed but will just need to become a smarter player.

I saw him live a couple times this spring and I have mixed feelings. He's got great physical tools but I believe he needs to move on from Gatineau to Abbotsford ASAP. He looked like a two-way scorer that they'd conditioned into being a Brad Marchand style pest. He was ineffective in the series against Halifax and he took too many stupid penalties.

That's not a knock against him as a player, I just think he's been shoehorned into the wrong role on his junior team.
