Iffy about RJ. I'd like to give Heatly a 1 year deal. I feel if we put him with read and Couts his scoring would be rejuvenated ? He wouldn't be that much either.

I've avoided this like the plague.

The Rangers are going to win the Cup.

And then the Schuylkill will flood with my tears.

That's what makes it even worse, with the lottery -- teams like Denver and Orlando have specific windows to win. They get a Howard or Anthony at the top of the draft, then start winning 45-55 games...then have little chance of getting another crucial piece in the draft to help them get over the hump, because they're locked out of getting a high pick because they're winning.

It's ridiculous, to me.

- AllInForFlyers

I dont really have a problem with the draft. The trade process in the NBA is the issue. You cannot get rid of salary like you can in other sports. In hockey you can turn it around in a year or two. The NFL is changes dramatically from year to year.

In the NBA you are forced to be bad for a few years to get good through the draft.

I do not watch NBA basketball because it almost seems pre-determined. Too much goliath and not enough david in that league. It is not compelling.

Ha! Sorry -- if anybody has a hockey topic, let's do it.

But we've beaten VL/Schenn, Gus leaving, advanced stats, to death. Anybody got anything good?

Very good way to put it.

My line is always "You have teams that go 10-70 and teams that go 70-10. Wtf is that."

The rangers have a good shot at it now
They'll still be under dog to whoever comes out of the west but they seem to be putting everything together at the right time

Still think losing Bressard hurts them if he misses significant time, not a death knell like losing Cary Price though

So there are some interesting RFAs out there. I wonder if a deal could be made with any of there teams or if any won't get QO. Cuold be a decent player that is young to take a chance on and they can all move up and down the lineup or be a good risk on the back end. Guys like:

Tim Erixon
Zack Kassian
Michael Del Zotto
Marcus Foligno
Chris Tanev
Sami Vatenan
Brett Conolly
Carter Ashton
Mattias Ekholm
Zach Trotman
Jeremy Morin
Matt Frattin
Dylan Olsen
Tommy Wingles
Dwight King
Antoine Roussel

- J35Bacher

All of these players will get qualifying offers, IMO.

I'm already effing sour about it, because they shouldn't even be there -- that McDonagh/Higgins-for-Gomez deal should never have effing happened. That guy shouldn't even be a Ranger.

They were in the express lane to hell, with Redden and Gomez and Drury on their cap. But Bob Gainey bails them out with McDonagh and changes that entire franchise around.

No apologies needed
The whole Sixers tanking thing was really quite unique

I'm glad the Flyers never did it, but thought the process was fascinating

I can't believe anyone would want to pay to watch them tank this year though

For me, I still hope it's Emery -- I know the math says there isn't a huge difference in the range of what you're looking at, but I simply believe Emery's a good fit for the Flyers, at this time.

He's definitely up there... Grabner might be the only guy faster... dude gets like 3-4 breakaways per game but he can't finish on any of them, lol.

Man, with the way Vinny and Heatley look on the initial burst...man, Read might still beat them.

Didn't the Flyers tank in 2006-2007? They had 56 points, the team with the next fewest points was Phoenix with 67.

To think the only thing the Flyers have to show from that embarrassing season is Luke Schenn. That's enough to make a billy goat puke.
