He has the speed and quick decision making of an NHL player. He's NHL ready in my opinion.
- TonyBazz

How can you come to this conclusion when he hasn't played anything close to NHL competition?

Also, I don't think his defensive game is anywhere near NHL ready. Sure, his speed is plus and his decision making and shot might also be plus, but he's a defenseman. He needs to know how to play- at the very least- effective D to hold his own in the NHL.

Yeah. I would like to see him start in the AHL no matter what.

I don't want to hear the dreaded "He didn't look out of place, so we kept him up with the big club"

- PhillySportsGuy

Well, they sent Laughton back to Juniors, so maybe they've learned?

I bet they would have kept him if they weren't so bad to start the season. Judging individual players at the beginning of the season was virtually impossible.

They made the right move sending him back. I believe Laughton was a top 12 forward by the end of the season. I don't see how he can't be better than Rinaldo by now.

The wheels fell off for the Thunder, Phillies and Blackhawks all at the same time. All 3 games were close not too long ago.

I think it's a safe bet he starts out as the 4th line center for this team next year. Hopefully he gets some sort of an expanded role somehow though. Can't be hiding him down there.

One thing he'll need to learn is how to avoid taking big hits. Thats something Gus never adjusted to as a smaller dman. He seemed to get injured quite a bit.

Even if Ghost looks good in camp, I would rather send him to the AHL and allow him to adjust to that speed before throwing him into the fire.

- PhillySportsGuy

Ito won't take long for him to get recalled. With his skating ability, active stick, quick shot and quick decision making; I don't believe he had to adjust to the speed of professional hockey. Here's a good article I read about him I read a couple weeks back.

I believe prospects develop at different rates. I didn't think Coots should have sent back to junior, but his development was stymied by Lava because he stapled him on the 4th line with crappy wingers. Laughton they decided to send back.

If Morin, Ghost, or Haag by chance make the top 6 next season, I'm not going to assume it was a rush job, but for continued growth they need to play with the big club. I had zero problem with Sbisa making the top 6, where they screwed up was not continuing to play him in the top 6 all year long, but for whatever reason scratching him and then playing him as a winger on the 4th line, which was stupid.

Basically, if you commit to a rookie on the big club, give him a defined role and leave him there and live with his mistakes in his development curve.

But dude it's not just adjusting to speed.

In college, if you for example are out of position, you can make up for it/cover it up with plus speed. Or, you can "get away with" diving plays at your defensive blueline (as a defenseman). Playing in the AHL isn't about "catching up" to the pros. It's about learning to play against them correctly and effectively.

I would like to see the 4th line be used more. A line with Laughton and Raffl should be able to hold its own on most nights even if the third guy is Rinaldo.

Agreed. Raffl's a wild card though. He's one of those players where you're like "He shouldn't be playing 4th line minutes but he's such a good fit there"

Good thing is, if you have Raffl-Laughton as the basis for the 4th line, you can play them more than a Hall-Rinaldo line.

He's nice because you can play him anywhere in the lineup. He's an easy guy to bump up if they need to.

I just want to see more balance in the forwards. I feel that will help the defense more than chasing after the top FA defenseman.

amazing that they can be this dynasty without some superstar wiggins/parker wing player

helps to have Tim Embiid

I would like a 4th line that contains players that can do more than skate 3-6 minutes at even strength. Maybe kill some penalties every once in a while.

Supposedly embiid is a 7'0" ibaka? Is this true?
