I love Justin Williams. He's such a good player. He's always been such a good player in big games. His game 7 numbers are ridiculous.

I love him.
Always thought him and Gagne would be Flyers for ever.

I don't think they're very far away from being a contender again. 10 teams make the playoffs now.

I just have no faith in RAJ making the right moves. Guy is a moron and still thinks advanced stats have no place in baseball.

Meanwhile, Billy Beane and the A's have the 2nd best OBP and runs per game along with the best WHIP and team ERA. They spend $100M less than the Phillies on players this year.

I do agree. His comment that Walks are meaningless was a disgrace for a GM. Just like the fact that he was restrained this year from going crazy and forced to find pieces for limited years/dollars.

Lets not forget that Lombardi did make the moves to bring in Carter, Richards and Gaborik. Gaborik wasn't really a blockbuster, but it was a decent sized move.

The Kings got a lot better by being bad for a while and striking gold with Quick in the third round.

- PhillySportsGuy

Surely. However, the main core of the Kings was already established by their draftees. Carter and Richards were added to help support the core (We all know Carter basically female dogged and cried his way out of Columbus).

Presently, I believe the core of the Flyers to be the following: G, Voracek, Simmonds, Coots, Read, Mason, and B. Schenn. I'm not going to include any of the young prospects at this time till they actually play in the league. I just don't see a scenario looking at organizational depth where Hexy uses an asset from the core to add a major piece, which is something Homer wasn't averse to doing. I do expect lower tier FAs to be added this summer to help assist the core.

He has a house in Ventnor. We frequent the same WAWA on Dorsett Ave. Has a nice house on the bay.

Traded Williams for 34 games of Danny Markov

Traded Gagne for cap space, Matt Walker and a 4th rounder (Noebels)

I'm a realtor, so I was just looking at the listing.

Damn fine house. Briere has one in Longport, but I would take JWill's over Brieres

Justin Williams, Mike Richards, Jeff Carter, Michael Handzus, Patrick Sharp. A lot of former Flyers, a lot of Cup rings hand it out.

I don't understand why he acquired Ben Revere. The scout who told him it was a good idea should be fired. It takes 10 games to figure out Revere is a depth outfielder and not an everyday player.

I guess he looked good because walks are meaningless. Especially, from leadoff hitters.

Revere can be a quality player if he improves his approach at the plate. Vanimal and Mayes have digressed.

The Carter and Gaborik trades were very good trades. Jack Johnson hasn't developed much of all and Gaborik has been an integral part to the Kings top line.

I would agree with you about the Flyers core players.

Its not his approach. He has NO power. No pitcher is going to be careful with him. If they fall behind, they won't be scared about throwing a fastball down the middle. WHats the worst that happens? He gets a single.

I haven't even gotten into his routes to flyballs and his throwing arm. He might have the worst arm in baseball. Thats not even hyperbole.

The Carter trade in particular was made easier for Lombardi with guys like Voynov, Martinez, and Muzzin in the pipeline. Hexy has to figure out a way to improve the scouting and get better organizational depth in all areas. It is kind of odd to see the Flyers with prospect depth at defense as opposed to forward presently.

I would not be shocked to see two rookies starting on the blueline to start the season, which would have never happened under Clarke or Homer.

Yeah. The problem with the Flyers has always been prospect depth. They seem to always have a blue chip young player, but they never have much depth. It's difficult to deal prospects when you don't have much depth.
