Obviously I'm a Thornton fan, that being said, the one thing that sets Thornton apart from other enforcers is that he can play the game and doesn't take stupid penalties. Orpik desevered to get his ass kicked for his questionable hit on Loui. No one else stepped in to fight Orpik. Thorts did. He is a passioniate leader of the Bruins. It was said that we have other players that fight. Lucic, Chara, Boychuk are those the players you really want in the penalty box for 5 mins or worse breaking their hands? I know I sure don't.
The Bruins have only a handful of players that don't fight most will when need be, but Thornton is the go to guy for a reason. While he isn't in Scotts class(only Chara is) Thornton will drop em with anyone at anytime and more often then not it to send a message not to "motivate the team".
Sign him to a 2yr deal let him finish in Boston and call it day
Just my thoughts.

Just watched the movie "goon". Was good, better than I expected, and in that movie thorton on Orpik would barely be a penalty.

Not to mention, if you recall the moment, Neil just knees
Marshmont in the head while he was down on the ice.... It was cumulative.
