Noticed both Gus and that Rasmussen kid are both on Team Sweden at the WCs right now. Would it be bush league for Gus to talk to Rasmussen about how he never got ice time, was never given a fair shake in full-time duties? I would hate for the Flyers to lose out on a potential top 9 guy due to locker room talk over there.
- Rocktane

1) Gus got a fair chance. Lavy really talked him up last summer. Gustafsson came to camp with a starting job to lose, lost it and didn't do enough to earn it back after the Flyers changed coaches. Players like Gustafsson and Philip Larsen -- an almost identical defenseman to Gus who has been in the same boat of being in and out of the lineup in both Dallas and Edmonton -- tend to have trouble staying in NHL lineups.

2) Rasmussen will do what's right for him based on what his agent recommends.

If the Flyers could poach either one of Franson or Gardiner, it would be incredible... Leafs coaching staff could be driving them out of town with their singular obsession with turnovers:

Schenn increasing his trade value....Strange he doesnt have a deal yet.
- PhillaBully

Strange and yet not. Hextall is probably weighing all options. Do you sign him with the idea of keeping him long term? Sign him to trade him? Or trade him and let the other team work out a deal?

One of the best goal scorers in the world today. Think he's got two more years on his deal in Russia, though. But man, I won't even lie because I know it won't happen: I'd be curious as hell. I'd at least ask the question, because I think he's going to be one of those guys who ages relatively well.

Bill,

What is your take on Alt? He seems to be a good skating dman with size and some offensive instincts.

- J35Bacher

I like him. Not sure how much offense he will ever produce but he has size, moves the puck a bit and is pretty reliable for a young Dman.

i'd think that guy would be looking more at the ice time raffl and read get vs a 7th defenseman, hopefully

If I was a forward and the Flyers called me, I'd absolutely listen -- you'd have to be blind to not realize there's jobs to be had/won, especially on the left side

Price is done for the series for Montreal
- mayorofangrytown

Ugh
Is this confirmed?
Rangers set up to the SCFs is eerily similar to the Flyers 2010 run.

I don't think it's confirmed, I was poking around on other threads and many people think he will play tonight.

Gardiner seems to be on the outs in Toronto. There has to be some change with that team player-wise, since Randy didn't get the axe. I'd take him on Philly to provide a bit more speed on the back-end. Depends what they want for him though.

London is supposed to be able to score goals. I don't know how much the long layoff effected them but they can't find the back of the net. They've had a penalty shot fail in each game and have yet to score a powerplay goal. They're having a difficult time clearing their zone (a lot like an NHL team we know) and at least one of the goals against in the Edmonton game was because they didn't get a line change for an extended period of defensive zone time.

Had a feeling they were going deep this year...sometimes, some teams just stink of destiny. Getting that raving maniac out of there as head coach, you knew fate was going to give them something because of all the slap shots that lunatic had them blocking for years

He has two more years on his deal, but to my knowledge he has an NHL out-clause. I believe he is eligible to sign a new NHL contract as early as this coming season, but don't quote me on any of this.
