To be honest I wouldn't want anybody from the Leafs ( that are available) Maybe Gardiner, but they will want too much for him.

I have seen too much of them, Kulemin started to fade last year and continued this year.I wouldn't be surprised to see him go to Russia.

Pouliot and Ott would be great additions.... But I know that May be pretty hard to get both

- 3flyerkids

I think Nikolai Kulemin is brutal. I feel Benoit Pouliot isn't great either but he's having a pretty good playoffs, which means the Rangers will probably retain him. I don't mind Mason Raymond but, he doesn't excite me either.

I dont really like Ott. I think he's overrated. He's a glorified 4th liner who will be paid more than a 4th liner should be paid.

Guys like Pouliot and Kulemin are 3rd line wingers. We need wingers, not more centers.

Jussi Jokinen, Pascal Dupuis, Nikolai Kulemin. Not one of these names excite me. Not even a tiny bit. Yes I understand they'll command less money and might be a suitable bandaid until something better comes along but to me, signing these guys isn't much different from signing the epic failures that were Rulan Fedotenko and Bruno Gurvis.

feel free to disagree but the guy I like is Steve Ott. I don't know what his status is, I was unable to read the response is the last time I brought his name up but at the right price I think he would fit well here. However, I think he would be pretty expensive. More expensive than the names brought up. Again, I have no idea what his status is right now outside of he at least was a pending UFA this summer.

welll for better or worse dupuis is signed for the next 3 years. and jussi is going to cost a boatload. id love to retain him. he is a hell of a versatile guy. and ill tell you what. you guys sign him, and immediately the female doging about shootouts needing to be removed will go down immensely.

no worries dude.

i really disagree about jussi though. i think he will get paid a lot, but just as a player evaluation, he would be tremendous for the flyers.

I guess you are right about Ott. I forgot he was a Centre. I would just the Flyers to add one winger and that " hard to come by" solid Dman!

We so should have picked him up on waivers way back when... if only to help our extreme futility in the SO... and to ultimately deny the Pens.

Yeah. I trust Hinkie. Even if they end up with the 4th pick, I'll still think they have a bright future. They have a ton of cap space. If they can put together a good, young nucleus, they can attract a top free agent when the time comes.

It would be just like the NBA to have the Celtics and Lakers win the lottery and get a superstar.

- PhillySportsGuy

Throw in 5 second rounders which are nice trade chips and flyers on some foreign players. That cap space allows them to get even more picks by trading for terrible contracts. At least he has a plan.

I know. He's going to be overpaid like Gaustad. They are nice 4th line players that teams would love to have, but they are 4th line players. Is there a huge drop off from Laughton to Ott?

i like laughton a lot. whatever grit factor ott may have an advantage in, laughton will compensate for (and likely than some) in skill and ability.

that being said, i think ott would be a perfect type guy for the pens. but for the name brand salary he will demand, yuck. no thanks.

like i said. give me kulemin on a 2 year, 3.75 mil deal

Hinkie has a history of finding some gems in the second round while with Houston. I think he found Chandler Parsons.

Those second rounders may allow him to trade up into the first for a third pick if he wants.

I just hope they get a top 3 pick and NO pick. It will lay everything out perfectly for them. I just don't like our chances. Luck has never been on the side of Philadelphia teams. (Kane )

Will Hextal keep the same spend to the cap strategy?
- jstross

Flyers have to go a full $5mil under the cap in order to not use Pronger's LTIR right away. And even than we would be at the cap ceiling until we do use Pronger's LTIR. I'm sure one that situation goes away the Flyers will be smart and keep 2mil or so available to pick up a trade deadline guy if necessary. But, like I said, it is almost impossible to have a scenario where we are not at the cap ceiling until Pronger is off the books.

This is what I'm afraid of. I think he's fun to watch. He gives opposing players fits. The best in the business at upsetting players. He can play all three forward spots on the third and fourth line. Tougg as nails. A much better Steve Downie. Effective on the PK.

Yeah. I get the feeling Ott is going to be one those long term deals a team will regret. His perceived value is greater than his actual value imo.

Kulemin had the lowest ozone starting % on Toronto. He faced a fairly tough level of competition as well.

I'm willing to bet the Blues overpay Ott. With Miller walking if they also lose Ott they will have given up Stewart, Halak, Carrier, a 1st and 3rd for a quick first round exit.

Yeah, Ott is going to cost around 3 - 3.5mil for a smack talker that can barely play. No thanks. Id much rather dish out the 3.5 to 4mil that Jussi is going to cost to have a real hockey player.

I think that Pouliot is going to get somewhere between 2 and 3mil, and Kulemin just under 2mil, maybe just over 1.8 - 2.2 ish especially if multiple teams have interest. Man if Raffl picks up the pace on the top line and we get Pouliot on the 3rd line. I could really see the flyers with 7 to 9 20 goal scorers. Would be sweet. (As long as Couts picks up the pace).
