Do you guys think hextall makes a splash at the draft?
- ystoil

I don't really think so. Unless the deal helps the team, that would be the only reason I could see. I seriously doubt he does something just because the draft is in Philly and it makes for good drama as some have suggested. That would be stupid imo.

How is Edler going to Philly & Vancouver?

Sorry, unless the return is named PK Subban, Alex Pietrangelo, Drew Doughty or similar, Couturier isn't available.

Not saying it'd be a straight up deal, and Couturier would be part of a package, bu I'm not trading him for a 30 year old with Kesler's injury history, Edler's recent inconsistencies, or Yakupov's maturity issues.

All of them are good players-or in Yak's case a kid with great potential-but Couturier already plays Selke level defense, is an elite PK guy and developing offensively. This is really the first time he's had an extended chance to play with skilled wingers and be counted on to provide some offense.

I think a guy like Josi would be pretty equal trade value for couturier

Yes. The plan is to put Holmgren in a dunk tank.

I still can't believe the names being thrown around that are wanted here in Philly are Jussi Jokinen and Benoit Pouliot. If he makes it to free agency, my number one guy hands down is Steve Ott. The problem with him though is, somehow he might be too expensive.

As far as the great Vincent Lecavalier a debate goes. Brayden Schenn versus Vincent Lecavalier, Brayden Schenn is younger and has the legs but if the game is on the line, I trust Vincent Lecavalier more. Brayden Schenn, I love him but he is very inconsistent. Vincent Lecavalier a has a cup and with chemo team in and moving on, sometimes you need that quiet veteran leadership in the dressing room to speak from experience.

I think Hextall shouldn't bother with the stress and risk losing more hair by trying to move Lecavalier. We absolutely should give Lecavalier a second chance, I think it would be stupid not to. I think the masses are not thinking with logic and allowing their minds to run wild. If there was away to move Lecavalier without carrying dead cap space, that would be great but it seems unlikely. To speak as if Lecavalier cannot play at the NHL level or rebound is unrealistic regardless of his rough season.

BSchenn and Vinny both need to play center. Vinny would be a $4.5 million 4C.

Just my thoughts, but LeCavalier at this point is a sack of poop and the Flyers would be damn lucky to get him off the team without having to take on another albatross contract or pay part of the salary.

I might do Schenn for Josi, but I'd want more than him for Couturier

Unlikely. I would be happy with him playing the draft and FA conservatively. Adding a two-way, 3rd line LW would be ideal. Swapping Grossmann out for a more mobile defenseman would help as well. I'm not expecting him to make a push for Vanek, Moulson, Niskanen, etc. Like to see him move VL for nothing and clear from cap space.

I wouldn't mind seeing the Flyers trade down to acquire some more picks for next year. They have no 2nd or 3rd next season.

Having watched Lecavalier for a season, in Berube's system, I have no faith in him. Give me young, inconsistent & improving over a guy that won a Stanley Cup a decade ago and is in decline. It's that simple. Vinny doesn't fit, despite the image his name conjures.

Right now, both Jokinen and Pouliot are better fits for what the Flyers need as a team than a declining matinee idol. They both bring good skating and two way play. I'm not even advocating going after either, but both fill needs. Vinny doesn't

Vinny Lecavalier... what a great hockey name. Too bad he could never live up to it -- even in his prime.

Where are the best fits for VL? Criteria would be an east coast contender.

What a horrible soft call to give the blackhawks a pp.

And now a goal.

If he's really interested in playing for Laviolette-supposedly a big reason he signed here anyhow, I could see Nashville being a fit.

I could also see Ottawa (especially if they move Spezza), Montreal (could use some size down middle). I was gonna say the Caps, but forgot Kuznetsov

The last 4 teams left is an NHL marketing wet dream.

True, but really, can't say that LA got any breaks -- San Jose just spit the bit, and Anaheim just imploded in Game 7

From a draft pick perspective Nashville is perfect. They have their full compliment plus an extra 2nd and 3rd round pick. Would love to get pick 102 for VL and 138, but would take 117 for the same.

Not defending his place with the flyers but he has over 400 goals and a cup to his name.
