How would a NMC work in an expansion draft? Do you HAVE to protect that players rights because you guaranteed them no movement in their contracts?
- FlyersSteve118

I think most are assuming that they'd have to waive to be left unprotected.

That's the way it worked last time. If they wouldn't waive you were required to protect them.

Only a buy out could rid you of the contract.

How soon are we talking here for expansion? Id imagine they need to add two western teams at once to make it work. Are we talking the next 2-3 years?

i'd say within 5 years. so much has to fall in place with ownership/bog approvals/arena development.

bettman/daley said there were in seattle only to get an update on the arena progress. not sure why they needed an in person meeting. seems entirely unnecessary.

If they're there in person it gives some weight behind the Arena project. They were there to progress that project, that's the only reason for them to show at all. Which means they are firmly behind expansion in Seattle.

Knowing the NHL they won't be able to figure out how to add two new teams without having another realignment

Just heard Pierre Mcguire on WFAN radio in NYC and he said the Penguins ownership had an owners only meeting after the game last night. No coaches or front office guys were invited. He said the collateral damage from the Pens blowing the 3-1 series lead will be immense.

Pierre has worked a game 25 of the last 26 nights. That's nuts.

You could definitely notice some growing pains in Berube's game. He still has a few things to work out of his system and needs to learn to adapt a little better. Needed to make the change to put Raffl on the top line and move Hartnell down a lot sooner.

Edit: I wouldn't be completely against Barry Trotz as head coach though.

- FlyersSteve118

Don't you need different horses on defense for Barry? I'm not in love with the idea of a guy with no real playoff success ever, regardless of the teams he was given.

You'd get it on cable? And how long would the drive be for an occasional trip. (Wait, why aren't you a V'couver fan as your second choice?)

how long of a drive? with or without the kids? Put it this way: we moved up from Portland and it took us 5 good days of driving. Depends on if you are camping or trying to stay in a hotel or something similar. That really dictates your driving day, i.e. we could stop here after 9 hours or go to the next town which is 5 hours further.

I'd love it though - Seattle is a straight flight, 3 hrs, and pretty cheap. I'd definitely head down there more often if a team was there.

Re: Vancouver - I would have to fly to Seattle first - too much of a pain in the ass.
