Ownership believed Bylsma lost the dressing room this season, specifically the support of franchise centers Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin, the sources said.

Players were unhappy with Bylsma's numerous meetings and long practices and the decreasing sense of fun within the Penguins' daily environment, the sources said.

Crosby and Malkin also grew disenchanted with perceived harsh criticism they received from Bylsma during meetings, the sources said.

Also, the sources said, ownership was concerned about the Crosby's body language during the playoffs.

Right or wrong, it won't be the first or last time a superstar player got a coach fired.

If they're there in person it gives some weight behind the Arena project. They were there to progress that project, that's the only reason for them to show at all. Which means they are firmly behind expansion in Seattle.

i agree...which is why their lip service of "status update" is bullpoop.

Ideally you would like guys on the 4th line to be somewhat versatile.
Remember the Rinaldo on the PK experiment? That didn't work out so well.

- PLindbergh31

Agree.
Some speed and a strong checking 2way game on the 4th line is key.

Having at least five of the bottom six forwards all being able to play PK wouldn't hurt either.

If they had a little more depth having a guy like Raffl on the 4th line would be pretty good but they were forced into using him higher up in the lineup.

how long of a drive? with or without the kids? Put it this way: we moved up from Portland and it took us 5 good days of driving. Depends on if you are camping or trying to stay in a hotel or something similar. That really dictates your driving day, i.e. we could stop here after 9 hours or go to the next town which is 5 hours further.

I'd love it though - Seattle is a straight flight, 3 hrs, and pretty cheap. I'd definitely head down there more often if a team was there.

Re: Vancouver - I would have to fly to Seattle first - too much of a pain in the ass.

- wilsonecho91

it'd be a step up from aces games, eh? what, you wouldn't want to have to drive through yellow knife, and white horse to get to a seattle metropolitans game? and i thought you were a hockey fan.

I can't believe they're really thinking of firing Shero. I would give him one more offseason to right the ship.

This is what happens when you sacrifice depth for finding your top centers some top line wingers.

the Rangers are showing the advantages of having a good 4th line. makes a big difference over the course of a series and through the playoffs.
- wilsonecho91

you got that right. it's too bad hall, bunny, and rinaldo can't lug that kind of mail.

St. Ray Shero could very well go in this purge. That team has zero depth and as much as we complain about the Flyers' drafts, I'm not sure Shero has done much better.

Pierre calling the games
"VL as your 4th line center...
that's some great depth at the pivot"

I actually think Fonzie wouldn't be bad in Pittsburgh.

I think the Pens' vets would revolt under Mike Keenan if he got the job. Mike Keenan is the black hole of "having fun".

How soon are we talking here for expansion? Id imagine they need to add two western teams at once to make it work. Are we talking the next 2-3 years?
- funmaster18

They could just add one Western team. That would make the Playoffs fairer than they are now with 8/14 Western teams making it versus only 8/16 Eastern teams getting in.
