Yes. Fredric Anderson got hurt and Hiller hasn't been very good. Gibson has played himself into this.
- PhillySportsGuy

Yeah... I saw Anderson get hurt. I didn't realize they had another prospect. I figured they would just recall a G and Hiller would go back to starting. Hiller must really be in the chateau bow-wow.

Gibson backstopped the 2012 USA WJC to a Gold Medal (the year Ghost played). He was dominant against a star-laden (NHL star-laden, at that) Canadian team. He's been one of the top CHL goalies on an average team. He had a cup of coffee in the NHL this year where he went 3-0 with crazy numbers (including a shutout in his NHL debut). Basically, he's the real deal.

2nd goalie in NHL history to record a shutout in both his regular season NHL debut and playoff debut.

Didn't realize that. I guess an argument can be made why wasn't he with the Ducks already.

What is with so many people posting here trying to get the flyers to rush every single solid prospect we have into the NHL, when we already have a VERY young core?

Its worrisome.

What's the deal with this goalie Gibson from Anaheim? Is he a big prospect? Why is he playing instead of Hiller?
- PLindbergh31

Anaheim's been rotating through 4 goalies all year. Hiller started out great, but imploded mid-way through... got benched as 3rd-string goalie for a long time. Fasth got traded. Andersen can't stay healthy. Gibson is supposed to be the "next one" in terms of goalies... most hyped since Carey Price, I think.

More than the thought of Dan Carcillo, Brian Boyle, and Derek Dorsett skating around holding the Cup wearing Rangers jerseys?

No they are both vomit inducing!

Conversely, the thought of them crawling off the ice in disappointment is pretty great.

Im not saying he'll be ready next year. I just like him as a player. I think he's going to succeed and become a regular NHLer.
- PhillySportsGuy

He certainly has a good chance

More impressive than the WJC, he put up a 1.56GAA and .951SV% in the regular WC's against the best available NHL/pro players.

Basically, the Penguins are gonna fire err'body if they lose.

That might be fun.

The Rangers? If they lose, I think it would be viewed as that team having a decent run and if they add a piece here or there, they could be OK. Rick Nash might catch some grief.

- johndewar

Exactly. The Pens organization is going to melt down after another 2nd round loss when it's the Cup or bust for that team. I want to hear heads explode in Pittsburgh!

He is definitely hyped. That's what winning the WJC will do for you. Didn't quite work out for Jack Campbell (and really, he didn't even start the Gold Medal game). But so far, he looks like he's it.

Those kinds of comments used to be like glimpses of impending doom, but hopefully Hexy's true to his word and puts an end to the parade of rushed prospects.

He looks really good. He has a very quiet game without a ton of movement. He's very polished for such a young player.

The true test will be when he faces adversity. Carey Price had a rough start to his career, but fought through and has become one of the best in the NHL.

Hartnell can't and he's been in the league for over a decade!

I think both teams are trying to get younger and faster. It was one suggestion by one guy.
- PhillySportsGuy

I love Hartnell but it is a trade that should have been made two years ago.

Sbisa is really the only one who I feel the Flyers really rushed recently. I felt Couts was ready and Schenn started in the AHL. Laughton went back to Juniors twice. Read and Raffl were both ready when they got called up.

Hartnell is too old . Bieksa could be had by Flyers but it would take B Schenn.
- VANTEL

He would be great with the Sedins, though.
