Would anyone be ok with a trade like this?

To Winnipeg:
B.Schenn
L.Schenn
3rd Round 2014

To Philly:
E. Kane
Z. Bogossian

Also say I would still try to move Vinny to Nashville or somewhere else to his liking.

Reasons for deal:

Kane would be nice upgrade on the wings as he can fly and finish with a good amount of grit as well. Bogossian i think needs a change and hopefully the potential finally comes where he and coburn would be a nice 1st pairing.

If you can't sign schenn then you move him and luke to a place i thought was close to home. Winnipeg needs a center to replace jokinen. Also now you could open up the second line center for Couturier and Laughton can slide into the 3rd line roll or midrnge FA or someone else. I think it gives more roster flexibility. Lets Couturier get more offense opportunities and Laughton fills in the 3rd line roll on a ELC deal.

Everyone with the exception of Winnipeg would go for it. I would provide a police escort to take the Schenn brothers to Winnipeg to get Kane and Bogo.

the league has tickets for the families, agents, advertisers and marketing partners. They'll release a portion of tix to the Flyers who will distribute them for free to season ticket holders through a not-yet-released plan.

why is it such a (frank)ing megillah at this point? it's all secretive. not that many people care enough to make this a big deal. i understand it's a league marquis event, but it's not like the building is going to be even close to capacity.

Writers to general audiences are to write to a high school readability because you are supposed to be informing and teaching about the subject at hand, not teaching people language skills.

For example, an 8th grade history book should be written at a 6th grade reading level. You are teaching history, not reading. Same thing goes for journalism.

Kane is a 22 year old with a 30 goal season under his belt already. Im pretty sure that Winnepeg would be hesitant to even trade him for B Schenn and a first, although he is exactly the type of player we need on our top line.

The league, as of the 3/23, still hadn't told the Flyers how many seats they were releasing to them. They were "delayed by the multiple outdoor games which overtaxed league office resources." Maybe the league should worry more about the draft and less about circuses.

And the Flyers want the STHs taken care of. And that's a lot more seats than they'll have in hand.

Indeed. And I am currently a financial publisher. We target a high school reading level for most communications to be sure not to cloud the subject matter with jargon or highly technical language.

But that's for your target audience.

What about a guy like Tim's target audience? I would suggest the reading level is below that.

i feel like the plural of circuses should be circi for some reason, but that woudn't read like circae. hmmm......

and yes, the league needs to have its priorities in order, and hire enough (frank)ing people to the job done.

So what about something where you trade B.Schenn and L. Schenn and a first for Kane and maybe a 4th rounder.

Arm chair gm at its best.

it's hard to stomach trading three 1sts for one 1st and a 4th

I'd think 10th grade. But no matter what audience will be reading, one would hope there'd be standards of accuracy and editorial quality. There's nothing about reading level that suggests lowering standards, merely simplifying vocabulary and structure.

BTW, I wasn't trying to attack people here with that remark. I don't really take what any of the beat writers say very seriously.

I was just making the point that guys like Pannacio write to the least common denominator. He's not writing for the hockey junkie that wants in-depth analysis.

- johndewar

Well, I for one, certainly didn't feel attacked. As a newspaper guy I sometimes feel the need to defend these older guys like myself who are getting left behind when in fact they were solid pros for the bulk of their career.

No problems here.

It's from the Greek kirkos. So it would be kirkoi. But it came through Latin and middle English. So an English plural is fine.

I think the only nonstandard plurals I use are datum/data, forum/fora, kuvasz/kuvasok, and puli/pulok.
