i'd probably do that if i was wpg. not sure the leafs would want enstrom though....their defense is already terrible; replacing phaneuf with enstrom would make it historically easy to play against. there would literally be nobody (other than maybe gunnarsson) who was capable of playing in their own end.
- sensarmy_11

Enstrom can't be much worse in his own end than Phaneuf.

Who, perlini or Ritchie? The guys who have less goals in juniors then Kane does in the NHL.

I bet Florida would trade the 1st overall for Kane......he's worth WAY more than your pick

The kid is 22 and has 100 nhl goals......not as good as the 8th pick in a weak ass draft.

guy is 5'10, 175lbs......he's not the guy who's gonna be playing 25-30mins a night, against the best in the league.....especially not the type of minutes phaneuf was playing this season.

The only way I would take either one of these guys is if the return was for s bag of pucks. One is old and lazy and the other is just average and overpayed.

wow, is this ever a dumb post.

however, average and overpaid pretty much describes a good chunk of the pens roster.

I agree, that Pens fan is a moron. A 30 year old is "old"? Phaneuf is average? An average top pairing D-Man maybe, sorta like that Letang fella they want to rid themselves of.

Leafs trade two top 10 picks (including the 2nd overall) and a high 2nd for kessel, who was 21 and had only 56 nhl goals.....but evander Kane, who's 1year older, and has 43 more career goals isn't worth the 8th.
- sensarmy_11

I would totally trade the 8th for kane...just not Phaneuf and the 8th.

Sorry to say but your team has been and embarrassment to the league ever since they brought in more than 6 teams. You guys just keep chirping about how you were higher in the standings than us. Good job. You mortgaged your future to climb out of the basement and make the playoffs one year, and in the process gave up the franchise center and defenseman that you desperately need.

By embarrassmed to the league do you mean top revenue generator (by far) for the league? Is the league embarrassed about that?

hahaha but just moving phaneuf and not bringing back enstrom makes them even more historically easy to play against. At least Enstrom is a body.

They don't give out trophies for generating revenue. This is sports. And being located in Canada's densest population is not an accomplishment.

Sports = the entertainment business. It has the goal of generating money. They don't need to give out a trophy for it, being the best at the business is reward enough.

I'm not saying it reflects on their play at all, just saying that calling them an embarrassment to the league is probably a bit foolish. I don't think anyone involved with the league is all that embarrassed because the Leafs are a part of it.

Not as far as business success....but really, I don't cheer on the owners in the hopes they make a profit, I cheer on the team to win championships and so do you.

The guy was referring to the on ice product, championship success, when he called them an embarrassment. Quit trying to validate your defense with something entirely unrelated. It's weak, and you are grasping for positives.

Yes, I cheer for the team that plays in the city I come from. That doesn't say anything else, though.

When have I tried to validate Toronto's defense? When have I said anything even positive about the Leafs? And when have I given the impression that I think there is anything positive about the Leafs (aside from the huge baggies of money they bring in)?

Or are you playing the "one Leafs fan said it, so every Leafs fan said it" card that you all like to play so often?

It's not my job to infer what the guy was saying, and I'm hardly wrong for taking it literally, so THERE!

If you win the lottery, you can pay someone to give you a trophy. But you have a bigger population to convince you deserve the award.

No, I'm not applauding the Oilers for anything over the last 8 years. At all. Could care less about revenue and the Team sucks.

Doesn't change my point,at all, when a guy calls a franchise an embarrassment and the guy responds with excellent finances....it's all a big "who cares?".

Actually, you make one hell of a good point. I wish the Canadian National Media saw it that way as well.
