If Briere wants to move up the line-up, he should EARN it. It shouldn't be given to him because in previous years he's been "lights out" in the playoffs. This team was one OT goal from having Boston completely on the ropes, and you're questioning Therrien's use of Danny Briere, who has done little to nothing this post season.

Also, I think injuries and age have slowed him down, he's not the player that Ek thinks he is anymore.

The only people defending Briere are the Flyers and Sabres fans who had him on their teams when he was playing well (flyers ditched him as soon as his play fell off) - to say that he should get more playing time based on numbers he put up years ago is silly.

He sucks. I'm not a huge advocate of advanced stats but it is hard to ignore how poopty his are. We are basically short handed whenever he is on the ice (4 shot attempts for, 20 against).

Ya, those numbers are very telling, but even if you refuse to look at any stats, just watch the games. We cannot clear the puck whenever he's on the ice. He wracks up hits and blocked shots because he spends his entire shift chasing the play in our zone and the odd time he gets the puck he ices it regardless of whether he's being pressured.

The game was very tight, lots of checking, lots of mistake-free hockey. Gionta was actually very impressive and I was surprised at HIS extra gear last night. Desharnais, who I have been very critical of all year, was actually pretty effective. Like I said, I was surprised...I am not a fan of Desharnais and I have always argued that there is no place for him in the NHL...last night I was wrong...he was fine. Pacioretty...was utterly useless. Other than ONE amazing back-check he was a total passenger last night and not deserving of the ice time at all. Rene Bourque was his old self. How on earth anyone can float out there with all of that electricity in the air and such an important game is beyond me. I felt like I could jump over the glass myself it was so exciting...and yet Rene Bourque just floats around...THAT is baffling.

Price is a stud...best goaltender in the world.

Briere played 10min? I didn't notice him out there for 1min. That being said, 10min of not being noticed isn't such a bad thing...he did his job, played his shift, chipped in, and made no big mistakes. To say either coach was terrible in that game is a mistake. 0-0 game with a strange bounce fluke goal in OT....it was a great game for both teams.

p.s. PK SUbban is probably the most exciting player I've seen...and I'm an Oilers fan from the 80s!
