than clutterbuck? the guy had 10P last year. Hemsky, maybe + for Gags(at the time), various prospects
- TheNugeIsHuge

start of last year ida taken clutterbuck over hemsky 7 days a week. I think most woulda. id be extremely surprised if 30 gm's didn't see clutterbuck as a more valuable asset.
physical, reasonable skating, agitating , quality 3rd liner.

I don't think theydve seen much value in hemsky. nor the prospects.

maybe gagner. but after his strong season, I wouldn't be at all surprised that mact wasn't willing to risk him for nino though.

hindsights 20 20, but wow would he ever help us now

imo professional hockey is in a pretty bad state if the majority of GMs are valuing a mediocre player who hits a lot more than a guy with 4x the career production

Talking about is one thing asking if someone actually did it is a little different.

Yeah but he just asked if he hung from the rafters. Doesn't mean he was asking if he killed himself. Might have just been trying to stretch out the neck and the back.

So I have to go to calgary cause dad took a turn for the worse and have to go asap. I'm coming back Wednesday but that could change quickly. So I'm telling two girls at work as a heads up and one first comment was so that means I have to work everyday. Yeah sorry my dad's cancer can't he postpone to better accommodate you.
- Yeti1181

How old is this broad? Some people are just idiots, others lack the intellectual capacity to empathize and think before opening their mouths, and others are just pretentious bumholes. You have enough stress right now so don't pay attention to these people and give anything they say a second thought. This isn't exactly just a gender specific quality. Best of luck to your dad and yourself.

Philip Larson plays wing and defence. We will trade him for your first? He will play with Crosby, score 30 goals

Oilers sorely need a right hand shot defenseman. We have a plethora of good young lefties. I'd be curious if a deal could be made here. We need a centre too, so I can't see us moving the 3rd this year. Could address the need if ekblad falls to three as well.

Thought I read New Jersey needs wingers? Although yakupov has low value I'd be curious if a deal surrounding yakupov and larsson could be made. I'd argue Larson doesn't seem to have the hype anymore (not that it is warranted just my perception). I don't like Eakins as a coach for yak, Deboar could be good. I think yak needs a big two way centre on his line such as Zajac.

Thoughts? I'm not even sure I'd make the trade but it is interesting to think about IMO.

Just my two cents. Stop shopping Yak. All it does is add fuel to the "bust!" bullpoop. And its been proven time and again that fans know nothing and GM's value players much different than fans.

I was listening to either Oilers Now or Lowetide's show a couple of days ago and they had someone on who roasted Leon Draisaitl for being lazy and having a low compete level.

I also heard Button say Draisaitl barely makes the top five.

But Larson is just defense playing 4th Line Winger and 7th Defenseman. Marcus Pettersson is Top 5 in Defense in 2014 Draft.

He's not in the top 30 on iss and is 7 for central scouting for euro skaters. He's a second to third rounder. You want us to pick him third overall?

We know what Mac t values and if that is true (I don't think it is), we won't pick him. If he is picked, than don't you think it's probably false? Being a coach and all and coaching Dustin penner.

no to trading yak. larsson would be another inexperienced young stud on the edm blueline, not going to get much or any better. plus if you think yak will succeed with a big two way centre in nj, why can't that happen in edm? i would attempt to acquire that centre and go from there.

I dont buy it. Early in the season Dreidel was rated #2 and fell a bit due to WJC's. I put absolutly ZERO value on anything Button says. He also has Jake Virtanen rated at #41...

I know you're pretty set in stone but this is from Gregors interview

Draisaitl: I know I’m a really, really
competitive person. I want to win every single game. I know people say that
about me but you know, I think it’s the style of game I play. In my opinion,
that’s why people say that a lot. I like to control the game rather than
speeding it up all of the time. And I know that I have to learn to speed it up
too and that’s something that I’m working on right now, and I know that’s one
of my weaknesses. I think that’s what people say because I like to control the
game. I like to have the puck on my stick and then make things happen and you
know. But I know that I have to work on it for sure, it’s definitely one of my
weaknesses.

**Many very good big players have been labelled "lazy." People have critiqued Kopitar, Thornton, Mario Lemieux and many others because their long strides give the impression they aren't working hard. I've never agreed with that. I also really like Draisaitl's answer. He likes to slow the game down, and while everyone wants people to play fast all the time, there are many very good offensive players who don't. Patrick Kane can play both fast and slow, but he prefers to slow the game down. His creativity and puck handling skills allow him to do it, and there are very few players more dangerous than Kane when he is dangling in the offensive zone. I hope that as Draisaitl works on speeding up his game that he doesn't lose the ability to slow it down. If he can do both he'll be an extremely dangerous player.**

Ya was surprised on virtanen. Stauffer had the iss lead scout on Thursday and there were question marks on his hockey sense. Pretty sure iss still has him top 10. Can't comment since I have t seen him besides highlights.

This. I think they'll do their jobs in interviews at the combine and have him into Edmonton for a visit. Through all of that I'm sure they will get some indication. If they believe he's a Penner they will pass.

Virtanen is a pure scorer. Not a Yak type sniper but a power forward scorer. He is NOT a playmaker. I'd say 10-15 is where he'll go. But you never know.

There are many that play that style. Jagr, Thornton, Getzlaf, Kopitar. They control the boards and protect the puck and slow it down. That is not to say Dreidel will be as good as them its just a style comparison. Penner was great at that as well when he wanted to be.
