I know you're pretty set in stone but this is from Gregors interview

Draisaitl: I know I’m a really, really
competitive person. I want to win every single game. I know people say that
about me but you know, I think it’s the style of game I play. In my opinion,
that’s why people say that a lot. I like to control the game rather than
speeding it up all of the time. And I know that I have to learn to speed it up
too and that’s something that I’m working on right now, and I know that’s one
of my weaknesses. I think that’s what people say because I like to control the
game. I like to have the puck on my stick and then make things happen and you
know. But I know that I have to work on it for sure, it’s definitely one of my
weaknesses.

**Many very good big players have been labelled "lazy." People have critiqued Kopitar, Thornton, Mario Lemieux and many others because their long strides give the impression they aren't working hard. I've never agreed with that. I also really like Draisaitl's answer. He likes to slow the game down, and while everyone wants people to play fast all the time, there are many very good offensive players who don't. Patrick Kane can play both fast and slow, but he prefers to slow the game down. His creativity and puck handling skills allow him to do it, and there are very few players more dangerous than Kane when he is dangling in the offensive zone. I hope that as Draisaitl works on speeding up his game that he doesn't lose the ability to slow it down. If he can do both he'll be an extremely dangerous player.**

You could be right, if you watch clips of Bennett you can see fire and toughness in his game. You don't need to be a big hulking player to play with an edge.

You used Button to back up your opinion? You are going off the deep-end.
- OilHorse

I'm not using him to back up anything. I just thought it was interesting what people are saying about him now.

imo professional hockey is in a pretty bad state if the majority of GMs are valuing a mediocre player who hits a lot more than a guy with 4x the career production
- Jack-artist

well, I suppose some think there's more to what makes a usefull player than just having good hands. and certainly more to a well built hockey team than collecting a bunch of talented danglers.

hemsky went for a 3rd and a 4th rounder, clutterbuck went for a recent 4th overall.

I also happen to think that clutterbuck best case, would've helped the oilers in a larger sense this past season than hemsky did (or didn't)

--id like to listen to someone try and tell me Daniel briere is more usefull to the habs run right now than Brandon prust

I think he only meant for oiler needs. Which I agree. But as we have seen, drafting for need is risky. It seems like reinhart isn't that much ahead, if at all, of the other 3 so I think you can look at needs a bit.
- ystoil

the oilers are at a point now where we can draft for need.

He is 1st Defense in Europe Skaters. Only Ekblad and Fleury are ahead of him. Honka and Deangelo could be ahead of him too but are under 6'. He is 6'3''. You guys can't have 20 Under size Juniors Superstars.

- SPIDEROCKSTAR

Sounds like a 2nd rounder to me, not a top 3 pick.

Regardless of who we draft ( and if he's available at 3 ,I say Ekblad) I think it's a garantee that the oilers pick in the top 10-15 next year. It sure would be nice to start looking at this team without adding prospects. I hope Mac T has his bullpoop rehearsed for the UFA season.

According to tricky dick cloutier the Oilers are not taking Leon. We all know that RC has some tight connections (just ask lowetide).

no. by all accounts super high on how steady he is.

im just thinking this would make me happy. hes still a 2nd-3rd pairing guy really so its plausible he could be pried.
him and Ritchie would be and extremely successful haul imo

dude never ceases to amaze me with how fuking clueless he is

"it's not size we lack"..gagner, eberle, nuge, yakupov, perron ...holy fuk.
last week he suggested, yaks and nurse to trade up for ekblad.
he literally couldn't get any dumber

btw-not sure if I posted it, but tim murray recently made a comment on how of the top forwards, draisaitl impressed him the most in the short sample he saw.
we might not even have the option to pick LD

How is Reinhart a bad pick? People saying he is too much like Nuge is ridiculous. He is still one of the top 3 players in this draft hands down. If he was there at 3 and we passed I'd be pissed with Calgary getting him.
- Iggysbff

I'm betting that happens, too.

Ekblad
Bennett
Draisaitl
Reinhart

EDM drafts for need and CGY gets a guy that could've gone #1. Sort of the same situation as last year-Best player available in Nichushkin or a Dman?

Not bad but Ritchie? I'd rather go for Dal Colle or Nylander there

And then it comes down to Bennett or Rein..again, not a bad choice to have to make but I pick Bennett.

he's boom or bust. and we know how much the oilers covet this type of player.

he could potentially be the guy that helps us more than any other player available. including the very top ranked guys.

its all just guess work, but if we traded down, id roll the dice and take him.

as would I.

i really see no scenario where we keep our pick and draft reinhart.
