On second thought: Hjalmarsson cost the $3.5MM - they would have given him $2MM - so the offer sheet cost the $1.5MM - maybe it cost them $2MM - about the amount they saved by dropping Niemi ($2.75MM, IIRC) and picking up Turco.

Maybe would have lost Ladd anyways.

Had SJ gotten Hammer (tired of writing it out) and Hawks kept Niemi and Ladd, you're probably replacing Hammer with a Pisani/Brunette-type defenseman.

The Hawks have alot of Dmen in the system which means some are trade chips. Clendening is very moveable it seems to me, depending on the return.

I think Bowman has to prepare for life without Rozsy after next year and possibly Oduya unless Leddy is gone....That how I read the tea leaves but for now there isn't a need to do anything.

I don't get leathered up about young prospects until I see them play against men for awhile...especially so for dmen.
