Hard to say if he wants off or not...
He did pick us to play for.
And don't forget he really was our best forward at the beginning of the season.
The Flyers aren't scared to bench someone making that much money (i.e. Mezsaros).
Don't get me wrong I won't be sad to see him go but at the same time I won't be upset if he stays either.

Him being the best forward on a team playing like absolute crap doesn't really mean much.

I wonder if Vinny even wants to be back. His ice time was held to a minimum and I'm fairly sure he didn't sign up for this.

He doesn't fit this roster. He's not good enough for top line duty, he's terrible defensively, so he can't play on the third line and he has horrible chemistry with our other 2nd line players.

He, literally, made every line worse that he played on.

True, but he was playing well though. Like a different level to where he is now...

I really think he just lost the desire/motivation when he realized he wasn't going to be playing center in the top 2 lines every night. I'd be pissed too, especially coming in thinking you're gonna be a big piece for this team.

I agree with the overall sentiments though, he doesn't seem to fit this team as much as we'd hoped at the beginning of the year. Especially with Laughton coming aboard next year.

Actually in my mind it does. He really stood out in a difficult time when it felt like the whole team didn't give a poop.
Do I think that's enough to promise him a top 6 role or not trade him? Nope. I just will factor it into my thought process and not just his sad showing in the play-offs.

Anyone else afraid to have Hextall go to another team? There will be a couple GM jobs open?
I like Homer but I would like see Hexy have a shot to run this team at some point.

Hey Bill, we don't always agree on things about this team or the NHL in general, but thank you again for your service to this online Flyers community again this season.

Nobody does it better on this website.

what's worse the flyers losing or bryzgalov still playing in the playoffs?

Trying to be logical in thinking of the offseason.

1. Let Kimmo go. He is a warrior but it is time.
2. Look to make a good hockey trade. Might have to move b.schenn to get a dman like shattenkirk, bogossian or someone else.
3. See if there is a way to move hartnell. He just doesn't seem to fit and Simmonds has teaken the place of his skill set.
4. Get a foruth line that can do damage. Hall played good but wouldn't mind a fourth line like dallas has. Those guys cause havoc and produce.

Just some of my thoughts.

Go ahead and rip them apart.

Flyers losing. Bryz is still the laughing stock of the NHL and I'm ecstatic that we have Mason.

And he tortures small animals. He definitely hasn't been a good fit. He looks like he's still hurt. If that's the case he still might be back after a full rehab.

Need to somehow trade the Schenns and Coburn and probably some good prospects to get back a top pair D man and a sniper for the top line. I bet they dance with Edmonton for the sniper.

If we trade Coburn we leave a huge hole in our D... I seriously hope they don't.

i think it's ranked on record if you miss the playoffs and then as each team gets eliminated they take the next spot. not sure how it works w/ 3 teams getting bounced on the same day in game 7's....i would say around 24th? just a guess

Jets, trouba is already phenomenal. Add Bogosian and that's too much to lose for them. Hartnell isn't worth much imo.

Back injuries, at his age, are death to a player. I would rather try and move him now. He had the highest shooting percentage of his career. It's unsustainable.

Flyers may be able to sell the fact that he was hurt and still had 20 goals. I don't see them being able to pull off that off next season.

He's the only thing the Flyers have that resembles a top pairing defenseman.

If Kimmo leaves and they trade Coburn, that would be catastrophic.

I'd still welcome Kimmo back. I think he got worn down from this season. Keep in mind he also played in the Olympics.

There's a few glaring holes on this team that Berube covered up pretty well besides lacking a big minute defenseman.
Giroux needs another wingman besides Voracek. Hartnell had one season when he was worthy to be called a top line player and that was the year Jagr was here. Other than that, Hartnell is a second or third liner. I've watched countless times over the course of the season when G and Jake were on a roll and the puck came to Hartnell and he ruined the flow. Giroux needs a big time goal scorer to play with him. I'm not sure why Lecavalier was never used on that line, but it's obviously not gonna happen now. Vinny is probably gonna request a trade in the offseason. We all know as soon as Bobby Ryan hits free agency in 2015, he's gonna sign with the Flyers and Giroux will have his sidekick. Until then, they need to find somebody that could possibly fill that role for a season. Matt Moulson would be a great addition, but he would probably want a multi- year deal and I'm not sure he's a good fit long term in Philly. Vanek is going to get paid stupid money in the offseason, so he's out too. One guy I might take a look at is Danny Heatley. He'd probably sign a one year deal in the $3 million range and he'd be an upgrade over Hartnell and Raffl.
Another thing they need to look in to is someone to play with Couturier and Read. That line could use an agitator that can score. I like how Akeson played in the playoffs, but I'm not sure he's a fit on that line long term. I'd rather see him play on a line with Scott Laughton next season. I know I'm going to be ridiculed for this, but I'd love to see them pick up Steve Ott for that role. He's big, fast, plays fearless, throws the body around, gets under opponents skin, scores big goals and comes to play every game. He'd be great with Couturier and Read, in my opinion.
I have no clue how they're going to shore up their defense in the offseason. Hopefully they don't put Sam Morin in too early. He's a long term project and is still very raw and has a lot of growing to do still. Timonen is going to retire. You can bank on that. Some attractive names are Niskanen, Markov, Boyle, Orpik and possibly Mike Green of the Capitals via trade. But none of those names jump off the page to me besides maybe Niskanen.
One thing I eluded to earlier is I think Lecavalier requests a trade in the offseason. He had a decent regular season, but he's not going to be happy on the fourth line. He's worth more than that to a lot of teams and he knows that. Hopefully they can get something in return. Maybe Lecavalier and a pick or two for Bobby Ryan? Ugh just a pipe dream I guess.
Go Flyers!
