I got a question for you Flyer fans. Woukd you take...

Richards, Carter, JVR

or

B. Schenn, Simmons. Voracek, Coutorier, L.Shenn?

- HabsRUs

It is hard to say because Hartnell does play well with Giroux when he is hot but when he isn't he is awful. You would kind of Rather have JVR on his win. Right now I think I would take B.Schenn Simmonds over Richards Voracek and Coots over Carter and keep JVR.

Why hasn't it been announced Vinny had a herniated back.
Giroux had a broken heart and Coburn was playing with a thong the last 3 games?

Eagerly awaits

No team is moving those elite d-men.

No worries to disagree here, and thanks for the input. I just personally value a 2nd and 3rd more. Its what it comes down to I suppose.

- flyer_nutter

The chances of getting a player like MacDonald with a 2nd or 3rd pick is very low. Much better to get the known and established player, then to hope that a player chosen with those picks, who could be how far away, pans out. That trade was a no brainer.

Sometimes I wonder about this fanbase... Giroux scores = He is the best in the world. Giroux doesnt score = Trade him, he sucks.

How about get this guy some help. He was obviously heavily shadowed all series and nobody else benefited from the extra space. We should be hating on Hartnell, Lecavalier, Schenn, Couturier. Those guys provided zero offense.

It's beyond dumb how people are trading Claude Giroux this morning.

It's not visionary. It's not edgy.

It's cutting off your nose to spite your face.

Had a night to sleep on it and sober up. Some observations:

First the positives:
We have a goalie! Anyone not sold on Mason needs an eye exam.
Voracek had a very good series, looks like a legit top line wing
L Schenn had a nice playoff, looks like a solid 2nd pair guy
The Flyers PK was fantastic, hats off to Lappy and his crew

And now the negatives:
VL needs to and most likely will want to go; get it done
Timonen needs to retire, and if he doesn't want to, I have no interest in re-signing him
With his good pal Timonen gone, time to ask Hartnell for a list of teams he'd be willing to play for and trade him.
Couturier's work on the PK was excellent, but I need more from him offensively
Ditto for Matt Read
The PP while scoring a few goals, was generally not goid enough. Time to shake things up and if Mullen can't see that, he needs to go.

Overall, while I wouldn't mind a change, I can live with Homer st GM for one more year, but he should be on thin ice. Berube IMO did very well for a rookie coach. Heck just getting them in the playoffs was a major accomplishment.

So, where to go from here
Get another mobile, skilled dman who can play on the top pair
Get an upgrade for Hartnell on the top line
Get that done, and Go Flyers!!!!!

Ugh. I'm going to have to find a way to get over it quickly... but I woke up this morning even more pissed off than I was last night. How could they not show up for the game last night?

I'm more concerned than ever, because I'm sure that making the playoffs alone was a good enough milestone for Snider. Everything will be status quo for next season.

This is going to be a very long 6 months.

Berube goes or stays? My gut says he stays. i am not sure where I stand on that other than that I'm generally for stability and he earned the right to have a training camp with his team
- wilsonecho91

He has a contract and he got this team to the playoffs when they were deader than fried chicken in October.

Craig Berube is the coach for next year and if they start well, he'll probably get another extension.

I think it's because of different individuals holding Giroux to different standards. I don't think the same person who lauds him when he scores is the same person that wants him traded when he doesn't score.

I agree about getting him extra help, or hoping others guys develop and fill in that role

Schenn and Simmonds over Richy and Voracek?

Richards and Vorcaek over Coots? Agree.

Coots over Carter? Meh... time will tell on this one...

The only person really suggesting Giroux be traded was Joe. The only standard i hold Giroux to is one of our leading scorer and captain. He must lead the way offensively and lead this team in general. Giroux sets the tone. The tone of this series was pretty pathetic. We didn't hit, we didn't skate, and we didn't play hard. It's not all on him, but it's up to him to lead.

He hurt us because of two things.

1) Our play along the boards could be the worst in the league. We use the boards knowing there is no play to make up the boards instead of having a forward stay in the defensive zone in the center of the ice.

2) Our defenseman can't cover guys in front of the net. I would say a majority of the goals scored against the Flyers are of the "he was wide open and unchecked" variety. Our players spend too much time watching the puck.

Add on top of that, that the players REFUSED to stop cross ice passes when there were no lanes and REFUSED to find another way to move the puck out of the d-zone.

I agree with a lot of this BiggE. But I think Vinny stays for next season. I think he was playing fairly hurt. With a summer to heal I think he'll come back strong. He was our best player at the beginning of the season. What we may find is he starts strong and then slowly fades as the season progresses. As long as he's ok with being sat occaisonally or being moved down lines as he fades I think we can make it work. He does have one hell of a one time shot and he has some speed if he chooses to use it.

As for Hartnell - yeah if I see another cross ice pass I might throttle him through my TV. With his NTC though I doubt he goes anywhere... However, I did like him on the Simmonds, Schenn line. I thought it would be a case of overkill but I thought he looked much more natural there.
Timmonen, such a smart player. But he's done. Let's make him a scout and pay him to put some of our young up and coming D through boot camp.

Agree with everything you have stated. Jake was clearly the best forward in the series and I would have to say Schenn has to be considered the best adman in that series. He seemed more confident with the puck.
I would like to find out if VL was in fact injured, but he did look bad
I would be willing to trade B Schenn for sure. Hartnell....time to move on, he had a good run but I think he is done. He may want to join his buddies in LA!

I would like Homer back but we may loose Hextall as I am sure he is being considered by other teams ( Caps). I would like Hexy to eventually have a fair shot to run this team.
