assuming the sharks go on to lose this game, they should immediately fold the franchise.

wow. minnesota wins in OT. good for bryz, being thrown into a very rough situation.
- hammarby31

Wait til Bryz gets his hands on the Hawks. 3 shutouts in the series.

So 3 road teams all gave up the first goal tonight in a game 7.

How many of said teams lost?

the flyers always seem to be the answer to this type of question.

Wow....good stuff. And I agree, the flyers philosophy out of their own mouth is to win the Cup every year! They've said time and time again. Not exactly building this thing up in a patient approach. Like Exlund has mentioned, and I've never hear the flyers talk in that manner
- Just5

Winning the Cup is the goal each year, yes...that is the philosophy in one sense...they can't come out and say "well, this year we're probably not going to contend, but we want to develop our young players..." Wouldn't be Flyer like, lol....and at times they've certainly sold out young talent and assets to try and win it all, but if you look at the past few seasons, it seems like they are being more patient and building something that develops over time...

That's an issue. This stupid thirst to try and stay competitive, and not being able to admit you aren't good enough hinders the overall development, and leads to stupid contracts that do impede them down the line.

Alot of the stuff you mention are akin to mistakes many GMs make, while others are uniquely his own, lol...and some are just beyond a GM's control.

Homer swung for the fences with Pronger and just missed the Home Run...some blame him for it, I applaud him for it. He later switched gears, went younger, and got excellent value for Carts and Richie...unfortunatley, Pronger's career ending prematurely really fooked things up, and is the biggest reason the D has been suspect...if Prongs was still healthy, this D, and this team would have looked a crapton better...he was that big of an impact player. All things considered Homer did an "ok" job of trying to get guys in here to try and patch the huge hole, but really it cannot be patched. To his credit he's drafted some D that should help soon and brought in some help in Mac D.

The bottom line for me with Homer, is, for all his mistakes, he's still managed to keep trying things to build a winner. He almost won it all a few years back and in my view, he has positioned the team well for another Cup run or two in the next several years. That's not a bad job by a GM imo.

Good team to try and pick at for pieces. That's a tough one to take, they had it in the bag.

The other question is what team has given up the most first career NHL goals in hockey history.

it is sensationally annoying the flyers lost tonight. other road teams gave up the first goal and won, as you mentioned. that vaunted flyers depth really came up big tonight. 1 goal from a rookie with less than 10 games of nhl experience. it's a joke.

He will go on another little hot streak and all will be forgotten.

Until the pendulum swings the other way and he becomes a near liability.
