Berube isn't going anywhere this summer.

Wonder if Tortorella has finally worn our his welcome around the league. I'm curious to see if anyone hires him or he ends up in the KHL

he'll become an analyst and sit the next 4 years collecting checks

Not sure you should.

The last few headless chicken years have moved me away from that energetic, generally optimistic view of them.

I will admit that all day long.

Me too. I lost a lot of the passion after 2010. More when Richards and Carter hoisted the Cup. And then more during the lockout.

If I'm Homer I'm doing everything I can to find a team desperate for a center, and moving Vinny out before his contract is completely untradeable if it isn't already. Ideally they could get a natural winger to clear out this logjam at center. I bet Vinny wouldn't mind being traded so he can get more minutes elsewhere

Dudes gotta be injured right...back surgery?? He was brutal.

Cant wait for Ghost. Hes a flyer.

I honestly think he was. Don't know how much it effected his play and all (maybe he really does just suck now), but I'd be shocked if he hasn't been playing with some fairly significant injury that effects skating. Guess we'll hear all about the injuries in the next couple days

He got along swimmingly with the media here in VCR this season. Didn't change his behind the bench demeanor, but his off ice style was much better than in NYC.

Except for his tirade in Calgary of course.

Definitely. That lock-out was pointless. Just greed.

Im still a fan and all, but don't get up for them as I once did. I do give some of the objective optimistic guys on here credit, those who try to have the faith while also being able to criticize them.

Is what it is, but for those of us who don't have those glory days to go back to, or watching them from roughly 97 its been kind of meh.

The last few years, under Holmgren's tenure. Has been a headless chicken routine.

yeah, i respect him a lot. hes a warrior and tries his best. but i just think his type of defenseman is going the way of the dinosaur. the big lumbering net clearers arent the way right now. if you cant skate, and at least have passable puck skills, you stand out.
- stayinthefnnet

Grossmann (when healthy) is a solid defensive d man and has enough skill to make basic puck moving plays. People who think he's a plodding traffic cone who can't skate or pass the puck at all, are off the mark. He is fine when deployed with a complementary partner and forwards that do their job in support...but when there's no one to pick up the pucks he's knocking guys off of (except the opposition) and/or no one to pass to within 30 feet, that's not on him. It's noticeable when the forwards play the system and backcheck and support well, D men like Grossmann and Schenn don't have trouble moving the puck up the ice...when they deviate from that, then they can struggle with trying to force things that aren't there or are beyond their capabilities. It's ok to have a guy like Grossmann on the D corps of you deploy him right and the support is there....that said, I'm concerned about his repeated injuries...

Would you trade Vinny (and maybe a mid prospect) for Alex Edler?

you said it nutter. no glory years for me. yes i started with brindy and the legion of doom circa 95-96. Id like to see a championship its been almost 20 years. Is that asking for a lot with their payroll? There's teams like Florida, Winnepeg, Phoenix that fluff the league. I understand how difficult the journey is but this franchise has the means to do it and have failed over and over again

No. Broken back reported, not soft tissue injury. Maybe just needed more time to rehab/recondition. But he seemed floaty. Not sure that I was thrilled with the signing. And the reason "we were surprised. he came to us."--well, Paul, who wouldn't. Doesn't mean you have to sign him!

We blew our wad with Pronger. Got oh so close. Closer than we had any business to being with the goaltending we had. Following this team has been a complete roller coaster ride for the past 40 years though.

But hey, were not fans.

Whatever (frank). Give me a reason to cheer, and I will. Continue on with the same old song and dance, overpaying for mediocrity by falling for your own hype, not being dedicated enough to the draft and mis-management in general, and you will see me leave.

Wont happen any time soon, and they would always have a soft spot in my heart but I wouldn't support that poop for a lifetime. If that makes me less of a "fan" so be it.

Homer should explore. Canucks might be looking to move him. He needs a change of scenery. Not exactly your prototypical Flyers D though. Could be a decent replacement for Kimmo though. He has good upside if he gets his mojo back.
