D is still a disaster. Streit, I am happy with. Schenn was ok. Everyone else was pretty disappointing this series.
- feelingkettle

its not like he hasn't been trying to address the D after Pronger's injury...

traded JVR for luke
tried the Weber OS
Offered and insane offer to Suter
Brought in Streit
Brought in MacDonald

truely - what else would you have him do? Trade away Coots & Schenn?

If any other Flyers dmen is tasked with what Coburn was tasked with, ice time and one-on-one matchups the Flyers don't make it to game 6.
- Pixote Andolini

Coburn was awful.

Thought Luke Schenn had a decent playoffs too as far as what he's capable of bringing
- eayost

Luke Schenn really didn't hear his name much. That's usually good for a dman.

So Like i said..he lead the team in playoffs this year. 6 points in 7 games isn't good enough but he lead the team in points.

Agreed on everything else you said.

- opeth_pa

It's not what you said that i had issues with. It's why you said it as a defense of sorts in context.

Giroux played a very low level. He is much better then he showed. He was the same way in the NJD series when he had two broken wrists.

I don't know what it is with this culture we have in Philly, but too many teams we've put together just seem to not care for long periods of time within each game.

i love hearing tocchet saying a philosophy change is needed at this point. called out the no shows by name; hartnell, couturier, etc.

That's what happens when guys who spent time outside the organization analyze the flyers plan.

It was not a tremendous series. It was pretty boring and tame for both teams.
- feelingkettle

Because Pittsburgh will actually fight. The Rangers talk and then their players run away and whine. Look at Dorsett, wants no part of Simmer or Luke Schenn, goes after Andy Macdonald. Mason plays this whole series, Flyers would have won in 6.

holmgren is not the problem. the guy has done more good for this team than bad. even when he's made mistakes he's corrected them... bryz was a mistake - cbo was not. trading bob for a 2nd was a mistake - acquiring mason for a 3rd was not. the richie and carts deals were BIG wins. OS on Weber was fantastic - still wish we got him at any cost.

-Inability to field an NHL caliber fourth line with all the money and an attractive FA destination
-Overpaying for his players due to an inability to draft and develop your own
-Most expensive one dimensional D in the NHL
-Failure to fire your old coach in the off-season but fire him a handful of games into the year
-Cap management failure with Gagne/Walker
-Constant shift of identity. Switch from defensive with Stevens, to aggressive under Lava, back to D first with Berube
-Constant inability to employ a team with disciplined players
-Managed to escape two albatross contracts with the gift of buy-outs
-LeCavalier
-Streit will haunt them in a few years

-Inability to properly develop a D from within, doing so at the last second possible as we have evidence of.
-Questionable drafting (Ghoulborne). Or however you spell it.

-Apparently the focus is on youth but developing Guss in the press box, and signing aging players to big contracts take away minutes from said youth.

-Chronic team wide inconsistency during his tenure. A team living and dying by its hot streaks. Constant player turnover, but he remains.

Holmgren should be out on his ass.

that man needs to be a coach somewhere. should DB go, id love him to try his hand at the pens. you need a guy that will look the girouxs, crosbys, couturiers, in the face and call them out. by name.

Holmgren has taken the shots that were there...defensemen are so overvalued around the league right now, it just isn't easy to make, that big move

Ghost, Hagg, Morin are the future. One of,them has to make,it,big

I really thought The schenns played well this series personally
- JoeRussomanno

Luke played his role pretty decent. He is what he is. B schenn did squat. Maybe a few nice plays is all. He should be further ahead in his development. He looks like versteg at best. I'm not impressed by that. If we have to package him with someone else or picks so be it. Coots showed he's completely poop in the offensive zone. Read wtf. I just can't believe good players play that poopty for 7 straight playoff games. I mean that was epic. I feel for mason

Guys who spent time outside of the Flyers org like Homer, Clarke, etc.

Either you're a good coach/gm or you're not. Has nothing to do with spending time in whatever organization.

It's scary how inept this team is at developing defensemen though.
