evidently a Rangers fan instigated it.

In my experience going to games, Ranger fans have stood out (to me) as being the most obnoxious, regardless of how good or bad their team is.
The only time I can remember Pens fans being idiots was during the "season that shall not be named". Otherwise, even Pens fans (in my experience) are mostly pretty good.
Others' experience may vary. |

I completely agree. The only visiting team fans that I have ever seen act as obnoxious as Rangers fans are Montreal fans. They just reek of attitude and arrogance. |

Interestingly, my favorite interactions have been with Leafs fans who come to our games. I find them knowledgeable and respectful. Plus they have those gorgeous blue sweaters.

That's a special kind of stupid.
And if Flyers/Philly fans were as bad as the legends, none of those Rangers fans would have been able to walk away on their own. |

As was said in our blog, there are a good chunk of Flyers fans that are morons, a good chunk of Ranger fans that are morons, and a good chunk of ___ fans that are morons. 1 fight in an arena of 20k doesn't mean anything in terms of describing a fan base either way. |

Even after he finally yielded a goal, the Wells Fargo Center crowd chanted "Ma-son! Ma-son! Ma-son!" in the same sing-song way that Philly crowds used to chant "Ber-nie! Ber-nie!" for Bernie Parent and "Pel-le! Pel-le!" for Pelle Lindbergh. To my recollection, this was the first time in Mason's Flyers career that he was honored in that manner by the crowd.
He got a LOUD Ma-son chant when he made huge save after huge save towards the end of the 3rd period, preserving his shut out over Detroit on Jan 28th. |

Yeah, I've never really had a problem with Leafs fans at the Stadium or most others. Rangers and Canadiens are the 2 who really stand out as total obnoxious dbags. |

I think if Mason bails them out once or twice early, they will continue to play loose and confidently knowing they can take chances and their goalie will bail them out if necessary. It is is great feeling to have.
GET THAT FIRST GOAL! I cant stress how important this is. - MBFlyerfan
yeah, first goal is monsterous! |

In my view, Giroux absolutely embellished it. But it was a penalty. I'd normally like to see that kind of stuff let go, but just call it consistently if it's going to be called. - MJL
He did embellish it. On the flip side, on a play where Voracek clearly got grabbed but fought through it, there was no call. The latter is what should draw penalties.

Some folks just have a death wish. While I have been to Flyers games at MSG wearing a Flyers jersey, I don't go out of my way to taunt Ranger fans. For petes sake, if you are attending any game on the road and wearing the visiting teams colors, use some frankin discretion. |

Pat Croce is a presence down in Cayo Hueso. Lots of Philly mojo down there.
Plus, he's going to have a better time than all of us put together.

So glad to see at least one game where they played Flyers hockey.
That early PP goal was really important.
Simmonds showed up big time.
Chief made some nice adjustments, Raffl looked great on the top line.
I think with Raffl there they can play that line against any of the 4 Ranger lines which may be huge tonight.
Was Hartnell playing on the PK last night?
Still getting hemmed in their zone a lot.
Going backwards with the puck and soft x ice and backhand passes are going to burn them. Just get it out and ice it if nothing's available.
Gusty was solid last night, loved it.
I'm really pulling for him.
Mase, what can you say. Spectacular, huge setting, the entire hockey world watching.
I hope he has another one left in him for tonight.
Girardi and McDonagh looked very average.
Hope that continues.
I have to work during the game and will be forced to watch it in tape delay.
Will have to avoid all media and Internet which is going to kill me.
Win or lose tonight, this team showed me a lot this season. |
