Brad Marsh's new blog in the top center space is a fun little read about Game 7s, with a lot of Flyers memories in there.

The reason why they shouldn't have, in my opinion, is the same reason why the Rangers pulled Lundqvist. The game was already decided. Why expend that energy at that point. If you don't have anything left in the tank for game 7, what difference does it make that you won game 6? - MJL
Because this is not a team that can afford to let bad habits creep in. And that third period was ugly on that front. I wasn't impressed with their first period either, btw. They did a lot of good things in that second period that they should've carried through to the third. Just mho, of course. |

That is interesting. I think you can throw it out the window. How many Flyers on the current team played in the 2008 game? Coburn, Hartnell and Timonen. Giroux played a handful of games that year but none in the playoffs.
Does Downie count? - PLindbergh31
Wonder what team he will land with next year.
He has been brutal since that first concussion. |

Another interesting stat about Flyers game 7s from flyers.nhl.com
"This is the third time that the Flyers have played a Game 7 in which they played Game 6 the night before - they won both of the previous games (2008 ECQF at Washington & 2003 ECQF vs. Toronto)." - TrentKlatt
I was at the Toronto game. What an epic beat down that was. |

I just don't see that happening. I think it was more important that they conserve the energy. They were sloppy with the puck in the first period. Need to come out with a better start.

The only thing worse than losing last night is when we don't show up tonight and get smoked tonight. We never show up when needed. Rags tonight 3-1 |

The Flyers never show up when needed? Last night's game was an elimination game for the Flyers. They won the game.

I think Burke might be interested in Calgary. Gives them a truculence player who can still actually play. Maybe Vancouver if they keep Torts because the same reasons. I also think Edmonton and Winnipeg might be willing to throw a contract at him because they need depth.
Overall, he will find a place to land in the NHL but he wont be making a payday like he had probably hoped going into this year. |

I see one of two things happening tonight...
We get called for 4 minors and the Rangers get 2 goals. We battle back in the 3rd but fall short of tying the game because of a blown call.
or
We come out and dominate in the first but only lead 1-0 after one. The rest of the game is marred with terrible officiating which allows the rangers to get the lead with 3 minutes left in the game. The Rangers then tackle all the Flyers on the ice and kill 180 seconds while dry humping our guys on the ice. No calls will be made. |
