So Giroux didn't embellish? Come on,man....you're smarter than that. Aren't you?
- DONMURDOCH14

im not exactly going to be sporting a giroux jersey anytime soon, so i dont really have a horse in his race. but to me, im not debating if he did or didnt embellish. i think its pretty clear he did at least a little.

im saying its a more systemic issue that he HAS to embellish like that to finally get a call, in a series in which hes needed to have a rape kit done on him after every game.

Its impossible for the refs to know. Thats why the players take advantage of the situation.

If a player goes down to the ice and grabs his face after a non-high stick, that should warrant a suspension. Not in the playoffs though.

- PhillySportsGuy

Eh. I don't really think they need to implement a system. I have no knowledge of how the refs operate, but if I were one I would be checking the calls a made after each game at the very least.

I would be all out embarrassed after the multiple dorssett incidents. I'd identify these fakers and give them a warning before the game. Make an example out of them. I wouldn't call a penalty for them even if they got mugged.

Overall, I don't see a system that can be set in place to stop the diving. Its really up the refs to implement something.

ive defended giroux a ton with this stuff, but i seem to remember a certain skate by the pens bench in which he was somehow seemingly decapitated by air. so i dont know about jumping to a suspension conclusion.

but maybe just calling the game fairly to begin with? interference is still on the frickin books. call it.

- stayinthefnnet

If G did it than yeah, suspend him. The league has to let players know that they are watching or nothing will change.

One of the reasons I don't pay to go to games and enjoy them from my couch with my helmet and a beer

Funmaster only you would need a helmet sitting on your couch...

This cracked me up.

Its impossible for the refs to see if a stick made contact or just missed a players face. poop happens so fast.

The best form of discipline will be suspensions after replay reveals the truth.

I don't want refs to feel the need to get even and let the next high stick to Dorsett go because he flopped on the last one.

I've been changing my mind about this. I used to hate embellishment. And found it unsportsmanlike. But as much as it is being done now, if you don't do it, you're at a disadvantage in today's game. I think that's why more and more players are doing it. And even when they do nab a player for it, the normally take both guys off. Players are rewarded fro embellishment far more then they are punished for it. So what would anyone do?

Its a shame its come to this, but you're right. But Id rather have an embellishment to an actual penalty that the ref maybe didnt see, then a full on fake. Just as much as I hate hooking calls after the receiving player picks up the players stick and pulls it under their armpit to get the call

I like when a player feels a stick between his legs (giggity) and closes his legs so he trips over the stick.

Its the fans. THats what I meant though
- PhillySportsGuy

New York fans are some of the biggest cry babies I've ever had the pleasure of hearing. I work in NYC. My office is actually above the garden. I loathe this place and the sports fans here. I want this series victory more than anything.

Personally I think the series has been called poorly in both teams favors. By just looking at the numbers it seems the be being called in the rangers favor. Rangers have 28 pp's to the flyers 19. That's almost 50% more. Pretty staggering. There's been plenty of crap to call to even up.

The flyers are for the most part pretty undisciplined. I expected going into the series that the flyers would yield about .5-1 more pp opportunity per game. Not what we have seen so far.

Yeah but they have access to the video. They can see who played them.

I'm just saying how I would do it. It would become a case of the boy who cried wolf.

stole the words right from me.

They got Dorsett for his embellishment.. just not on the original penalty.

The one where he collided with Mason was a tough embellishment call. He did get hit pretty hard, but he definitely helped himself make contact. Was it 2 minutes for embellishment worthy? I dont think so, but they probably viewed the non-existent high stick and got him for that.

I'm amazed that the ref saw the embellishment there. There was definitely a delayed reaction by Dorsett from when he was crosschecked, to when he launched himself into Mason. But I had the benefit of instant replay.

Given this is HB, I'd always assume a comment is an insult unless proven otherwise
