A signing bonus can be assigned to any individual season within a contract. They can be paid up front on July 1 prior to the league year but can also doled out according to a pre-determined payment schedule that is written into the contract.

are you friends with Vinny? do you know when and where the money is to be paid out and how much at a time ? NO ? then shut it

- Adam_The_Golf

Ahh, so now you're arguing against your original position and acting superior.

Special.

This is mainly the reason I want the Flyers to win tonight and move on to the 2nd round. Not that I honestly think they have a chance of getting past the EQF (if its the Bruins) or winning the cup... But if they knock the Pens out of the playoffs again, I will be satisfied once again.
- TrentKlatt

If they knock the Rags and Pens out, it will be one step below winning the Cup as far as satisfaction goes.

If a signing bonus is indeed agreed to be paid over a pre-determined payment schedule that is written into the contract, it is still money that is taken out of the total yearly salary, not added onto it.

You are either a brilliant troll, or one of the worst ever. I'm having a hard time believing you are meaning to come across this horribly lacking in the brain skills.

LOL, doesn't change the fact that a signing bonus is not in addition to his salary, and that you are completely wrong in stating that the Flyers are paying Lecavalier 10M this year. They are not. They are paying him 6M total, including the signing bonus.

Clarkson deal was bad no doubt about it

how's the Lecavalier deal working out for you ?

with his salary this year and singing bonus you are paying a 4 line player 10 million dollars this year ( GOOD SIGNING!) so mention the Clarkson deal all you want , Lecavalier deal is just as bad , if not worse

- Adam_The_Golf

You don't know how NHL contracts work. The signing bonus is part of each year's total payment, not in addition to it. So Vinny got paid $6 million in total this season, not $10 million.

The Flyers actually structured his contract in the best way possible since his actual salary will be below his cap hit in the last two seasons, making a trade easier.

And Clarkson had 11 (frank)ing points in 60 games. 11! As much as he struggled after the back injury Vinny had 37 in 69.

This will be more hilarious if the Flyers trade Vinny to the the Leafs in the off season for a couple of good picks or prospects.

That would be amazing.

I would love to swindle the Leafs. Getting the Flyers better and setting the Leafs back at the same time.

After Bolland walks (correction, runs) out of Toronto this summer as a UFA, that leaves them with Bozak, Kadri, and Holland as signed centres. I assume Nonis will take a run at O'Reilly via trade and Stastny via UFA, but Vinny might be what they really end up with.

So its the Flyers mania that contributed to your inability to carry the one?

ALSO: Niner is not a number.
