i rarely throw out deals, but would leafs fans do:
kadri and franson for b schenn and l schenn. I would. Never happen, just conversation / stirring the pot - clark_griswold
Hell no!
Luke Schenn is barely an NHL dman, an absolute horrible first round draft pick. |

vanek on the 2nd line with Kadri and Lupul would have helped a little.. since clarkson wouldnt be there
I am glad no moves were made thought.. nothing would have helped much at all - senstroll
he would have done nothing to help defensively. |

personally i do not like Nonis as a GM. i see absolutely no rhyme or reason to what he does, almost like he makes it up as he goes. that said, i think right now, he's GM the way Sherman is GM in Colorado. i don't think he can take a piss without Shanahan's approval right now. - DoubleDown
We'll see soon how that goes; I just hope that its not a case of "too many cooks"... |

1m for a healthy guy who potted 45 points? You take that any day of the week! - lumlums
Exactly.
Good signing.
Nonis errors were signing Clarkson, extending Pa-neuf and including a 2nd for Holland. |

he's a brutal #5 overall true, but he's an NHL dman for sure. and Brayden isn't the offensive player Kadri is but he's far more rounded and tough. i agree with griswold. that's a solid deal for TO. |

You had said the deadline inaction, so I was going off that - lumlums
Right so why does the player have to be available? Or at least to the public available. Make a hockey trade. It's your last chance. Just bc TSN doesn't have the player on their radar doesn't mean he's not available for the right price. |

Yeah, that Clarkson deal has really been the cause of most of the issues. The rest I can accept (not like!), but that Clarkson deal looks to be a stinker right now... |

I think Luke would have done well with Carlyle I think that is one guy who could have learned from Randy as he is a protypical defensive first guy. Having said that I take JVR over Luke ten out of ten. JVR has improved greatly here since his Philly days and no reason he wont continue to get better. - Yeti1181
agreed. was looking forward to see Schenn playing under Carlyle.
But I take JVR any day. |

Ya I exaggerated a bit. He's a 6th maybe 5th dman. Either way, he makes our D worse. But I agree Brayden doesnt have the hands that Kadri has, but he is a much more rounded player as of now.
I still wouldnt do the trade. |

Our defense was bad enough this year....didnt need to make it worse by having Schenn in the line up. |

that was ridiculous. i see why Philly traded JVR. he doesn't seem to fit the mold of their top 6 guys. but they should have been able to get way more than Schenn. |

I don't think it woulda. All three players going to the same spot on the ice with no one getting dirty. Woulda been a complete failure like Kadri with Kessel and JVR. All playing the same game. - honesthockey
no way to know.. but i think its safe to say a Vanek-Kadri-Lupul line would score more than one with clarkson.
RC leaned far too much on Kessel ... having a second dangerous line would have helped. Clarkson just killed any offense.
