The Leafs seem to be looking at their history and worry about moving players. Then they just grab players with no real plan. Identity crisis? You bet. We need a GM with a plan and makes that plan happen fast. With a plan it doesn't take a million years.

Yes that's true, but all free agents are overpaid. Not defending the contract, it's horrible, period. That said, I think the payback for a guy like Clarkson will come when the team makes the playoffs............next year!?

Why does he have to be better once the team makes the playoffs? The team was essentially in the playoffs for the last 3 weeks of the season and he showed nothing when the games mattered.

With that said, I still give him one more season to adjust before I try to trade him.

they get high draft picks every year but have no plan to figure out how to build around those young players

they just keep spinning their wheels

Two top GM's in Holland and Lou both let players walk or trade them once they believe they no longer fit the plan. Health issues? Gone. Older and want a big contract? Gone. No love loss.

IMO we've got a good core in Kessel, JVR, Bozak, Phaneuf, Rielly and Bernier. Build a solid hard to play against line 2. A rough and tumble 3. Fourth line full of real energy. Not Ashton or D'Amigo energy but players like the player Ross should have been.

On defense we need to get way more physical. Win puck battles and have the opposition worried about playing in front.

He just dosnt know what a young offensive defensemen is. They are going toi make mistakes they are young. I would of loved to hear what he had to say about erik karlsonn a few years ago. Probably thought he would be crap because he made mistakes like every young player does. Oh well. glad he isn't our GM
