I’m honestly not sure I’ve ever met a Habs diehard who wanted other fans to join the bandwagon. Every other fan base will welcome, or at least tolerate, an occasional temporary boost in support, but Montreal fans aren’t interested. If you want to join them in cheering for the Habs, they can’t stop you. But they won’t acknowledge you.

Habs fandom is like wandering through downtown streets after dark — lots of fun if you know your way around, but if you look too much like a tourist there’s a good chance you’re getting stabbed.

I have an 11pm game tonight. Not playing. Back is barking and I have a client meeting here in the city at 8am. Also, the game could go into OT.

All the refs suck. You guys call 100 penalties a game and then choke on the whistle in the playoffs allowing some of the worst infractions to go without a punishment.

I am a little confused though. Who gets to choose the refs? The union or the NHL?

I couldn't even tell you one referee that I think can call a good game.

Tell you what: Become part of the solution. Grab your skates and attend some officiating camps, show you are a star-in-the-making and help make it a better game.

Step one: Take a 3X5 index card and fill it with everything you know about the NHL rulebook and the art of officiating.

Step two: Turn in the blank index card along with your camp fees.

Step three: Trying flapping your gums less and listening more to the people who have done this for a living for decades and actually know what is involved from every aspect.

Step four: Return to your TV set and computer screen after finding out that officials are in a no-win situation much of the time and are basically set up to fail.
