They have lost to pretty much every team, in every round, in every way imaginable but over the years, they have really changed their style of play. It's really a work in progress. They could be like the Red Wings or the Bruins before they finally made it work.

One thing they haven't tried yet though is getting a great goalie because between Nabokov and Niemi, they've had a lot of average goaltending when they needed much better than that.

I thought they landed a great goalie in Niemi??

Really? They look like the deepest blueline in the league, especially playing that Hitchcock style. If they got the Miller they thought they were getting, they would have won that series.
- JohnFergusonJr

Bouwmeester? Poster boy for being overrated.

Shattenkirk? Had 5 points but still a minus 1 in the series (I know this doesn't tell much).

Colaiacovo, Jackman, Polak?

Not what I would call crazy depth. Good, but not as good as Chicago or LA or Boston (before Seidenberg/McQuaid injuries).

And got rid of some dead wood (Clowe/Murray).

And developed some outstanding young talent in Pavelski, Couture, Hertl, Nieto, converted Burns into a 20 goal forward, Vlasic and so on.

Maybe they convinced themselves of that but everybody knew Niemi was there along for the ride. Some teams are so good that the goalie doesn't have to stand on his head but as we've seen with Quick, having a dominant goalie can help you overcome pretty much anything.

Yep. I really like the Sharks.

I think they win against everyone but LA. And they were close.

Looking at Detroit from 1986/87 to 1996/1997, there were a lot of bumps in the road but they made it work eventually. The Sharks don't have a huge window of opportunity but if they use this as a learning experience, spend to the maximum and invest in a bonafide great goaltender, they just might be that type of team to finally get over the hump.

It'll be even better when he gets 25% of the vote.

The Sharks should trade Marleau or Thornton to the Leafs.

They'd get a Kings' ransom.

Really thought the sharks were gonna win it at home.

My God their reputation of chokers is growing stronger and stronger every year.

This was the worst one IMO. Had the Kings dead.
