Vanek and Pacioretty weren't on board tonight,
- DoubleDown

Patches had some moments.

Vanek too.

When they were split.

Little DD was earning his money.

Good for him.

Happens when teams top D pairing are against you most of the game. Even the lowly habs held Crosby, Malkin and Ovi to limited play a few years back... And lets be honest, Pacs and Vanek are not in that same league and Montreals D then was not as good as Bostons is now. Stars can shine, but in the playoffs you need your 3rd and 4th lines winning battles for you and putting points up on the board.

More than Vanek I agree. But overall we need more. Thought DD gave it everything tonight. Was very happy to see Bourque still involved.
All in all, a lucky win but I think Montreal can play much better. And I think this was Boston at the top of its game and we took the punch.

I think they still have another gear. They have been at the top too long and know what it takes to get there. I am ecstatic about the win tonight, given that this was probably our worst team effort and still got the victory, but I don't think this was the Bruins firing on all cylinders.

They possessed the puck more 5 on 5 therefore won the game I hear.

Would you like to test that 7 times?

I'm trying to figure out if it's because the other team is just so careful not to give them anything. Vanek was floating dangerously close to Kovalev levels on a few shifts. Good on Therrien for having the guts to move him down. Can't wait to see how he responds.

Thought Boston were firing on all cylinders. Outshot Habs by 20 shots. Price just stymied them.

Pacioretty was in there. Not sure weise is the answer, thought that was a shift or two to offset. I liked a couple of shifts with Vanek and Pleks and then Vanek dropped out. He doesn't look like he wants to test the Bs at all....could be a ploy

Drew the penalty, and scored an OT goal last time. CLUTCH.

I don't think it was their worst team effort I think they were ducking and jiving, (frank)ing D holding on to it etc. back passes to no one.. Bs are a gauntlet. Habs stole that one.

I expect the Bs to pick up the physical play more, especially after losing home ice adv. Game 2 will most likely be gritty unless Bs get an early lead and blowout Habs.

I am starting to sense a theme with his favourite players. Vanek has been invisible so far in the playoffs. He needs to step it up.

Were the Bruins fan booing every time Rask made a save?
- jugkope

I think they're saying 'TuuuuuuUUU' a bit like Luongo in Vancouver, when he made a save they were chanting 'LOUUUUUUUUUU'.

And the posts and the lack of finish. Price was spectacular but also had some luck on his side. Not trying to taint his performance but the Bruins do have another gear. If they don't, they will be golfing soon enough.

Really Luc?

They were firing on all cylinders tonight, posts, near tap ins, etc.

Like grapes said, 'the Habs need to be careful and find mistakes and capitalize on them.

56 hits, not sure they can up that. They can however hit the net more often.
