Whoa...

They banned that Sterling racist piece of poop, for life.

- Gary_B.

Also, not sure how they can do that. The legal process will have to take its course.

Jaromir Jagr a une entente avec les Devils. Contrat d'un an qui va lui rapporter entre 5 et 6 millions de dollars avec les bonis. #tvasports

Jagr back with the devils for a year at 5 to 6MM with bonuses

It was probably booked a year ago. Whether they book a graduation ceremony or a show, what's the difference?
- EssuieToutJeune

You can move a ceremony to another venue much easier than a concert.

kind of stunning that you can do this to someone for comments they make in private to be honest with you.

I think either way advertisers would have eventually forced him to sell the team.

What is he banned from actually? Going to the games? The guy owns the team.
I really don't get how they can enforce that or apply that.

Can they force him to sell?

At least we won't hear about him going to the Habs all summer long after Vanek bails.

Les autres propriétaires de la NBA ont le pouvoir de forcer Donald Sterling à vendre son équipe, dit le commissaire Adam Silver

Et ben.

Well, they were pulling out like Fred on a first date. The NAACP decided not to give him their "MOY" prize, though how he was in line for it is beyond me.

As for the legal side, that she recorded the calls is illegal in CA. The prosecutor can go after her for that. But bottom line is, it's out there regardless and the NBA had no choice but to act swiftly and harshly - and they did.

Banned from games/practices.

They'll "recommend" that he sells the team.

Likely not. But the pressure the other owners and such will put on him, will probably leave him no choice. Also, he 81 - what does he care?

They say they're awaiting 20 000 people.
- EssuieToutJeune

TD Garden only seats about 17,500.

In Boston, they couldn't give enough tickets away to fill a 20,000+ venue when the team struggles and loses its band wagoners in droves.

Arash Markazi
The owners have the authority, subject to 3/4 vote, to remove Sterling as an owner.

Well, in the NHL, the BOG decides who will be an owner and who won't.

I guess they can also force someone to sell a team.

I think some lawyer on the radio this morning was saying kinda that. eventually he probably won't have a choice to sell but if they push him too hard to do it he can litigate and he gets to ties it up in court for years.

either way it's basketball so in the end who really gives a (frank).

He's 81 and a billionaire. He could litigate till he dies just for kicks.
