Actually I thought the Rangers played loose as well...
- landros 2

Agreed, neither team played well to be honest.
The Rangers had the better chances due to the horrible turn overs but they were pretty loose in the d zone. Both Lundvist and Mason made some big saves.

I am of the frame of mind that when a GM assembles a team, he is essentially responsible for it.

- flyer_nutter

Well then he should lace up a set of skates and grab a stick. Because if he's responsible for the two poor turnovers that Couturier made, as well as others. He might as well be out there making them himself. And then he could truly be blamed.

The over-exuberant celebration after goal 1 is revealing. Reminds me of Richard's (I think) first goal against the Pens in 2008 ECF. I don't really remember the actual goal - I remember him 'over-celebrating' though.

Lol there is a game at hand, not really in the mood to debate, but feel free to remove Holmgren from the responsibility of how the team he assembled performs.

Check out what the rest of the league thinks of Holmgren, fans in general outside of Philadelphia. Sometimes other perspectives or those out 'outsiders' can be beneficial.

Flyers have been fortunate for most of this series that this Rangers team isn't a top offensive team.

I think I have to agree with Nutter here. If he isn't directly responsible for making the players play, he's at least responsible for the coaching staff that is unable to get the players going, and the captains that are unable to pick their team up. That isn't really the issue here, though. I think we're just being smothered and frustrated. This isn't a team that usually has emotion problems.

Nonsense.

If they are dead last in the league, Holmgren has no responsibility because he isn't on the ice.

Its all good.

I welcome all points of view. Don't get me wrong, the constant complaining is tiresome but we do live in a City that specializes in it.

TSN panel just made fun of the Flyers 1st period turnovers. Aaron Ward: "You might as well play these clips to circus music."

What's happening in this game, and in this series, is not the fault of the GM. This team is better then this,.

devil's advocate.
BUt isn't that why people were/are ready to blame RAJ for putting together a phillies line-up that many believe to be a 75-85 win team at best?

A general manager has nothing to do with the failure, limitations or success of his team on the ice.

Gotcha.

Its ugly for sure.

They are trying to push the pace, and being exposed in the process. At least though, they are trying to win. First time all series I have seen them really try to take the game by the horns.

If that's what they are, so limited, then so be it. At least try though, and I will give them credit for that.

- flyer_nutter

it looked to me like they're trying to push the pace once they get it OUT of their own zone ... in the D zone they still look VERY tentative, and fell back into a very reactive approach.
