And that, folks, is why Jan has a slot here on HB, the eloquent bastard.

He said it better than I did.

Numbers were never in the Flyers' favor, so hard for anybody to use them to fluff their chances.

Rangers were one of the top ES teams in the regular season, according to fancy stats. To have any shot at losing, they'd have to spend a good fraction of the series on the PK and uncharacteristically play like poop at ES. Neither has really happened.

Flyers are really lucky to have 2 wins so far on the backs of their goaltenders. Mason had better be ready to channel some Jonathan Quick if they hope to have any chance at all, because the team overall just doesn't measure up.

- Tomahawk

The stats pretty much tell me what my eyes do as well. The first and third lines are holding their own, but the 2nd line is being dominated.

NYR goaltending has been better overall the NYR top line has been unbelievable.

Not really. We have a giant fish tank thats full to the top in fish. Old, smelly fish.

I really hope they make a play for Niskanen. The guy is legit. He does so many little things well.

[quote=hammarby31]first, i've never ever heard of this word "ennui". this annoys me. second, all i can suggest that might help you get fired up is watch some old amazing flyers clips like these to delude yourself into thinking something similar will happen tonight:

what annoys you? the word or the fact that you hadn't ever heard of it?

both.

I know. It's the same people who want Kimmo to retire and not come back. They think anyone can step in and play his 20 minutes each night.

He's really only a top 4 defenseman at this point, but they use him like a top pairing dman. He still holds his own on most nights.

i respect the hell out of timonen. however, i really do think the end is near for him. you can see it. he is trying so hard, just sometimes its just not there.

bookmark it. post it. favorite it. whatever its called. it says right here, that niskanen will make a HUGE difference for the flyers next year, when you guys pilfer him away

I don't disagree that the Flyers 2nd line isn't giving them what they need. But every stat? This is the playoffs. Stats should be thrown out the window. Especially the "fancy stats". Really only one stat that matter now. And that's goals.

I think Kimmo would look a lot better as a 2nd pairing dman. They use him against the top lines, on the top PP and on the PK.

I really want Niskanen.

They aren't scoring many of those. They seem to be on the ice for several of those though.

is there any good reason the game is at 7:30 (38) instead of 7:00 (08)?

That would be the only stat that matters.

Let's be honest here. Flyers forwards have scored 2 5 on 5 goals in the entire series. The 2nd line isn't the only line not getting it done to this point.

He's top pairing though. A top pairing of Niskanen-Coburn isn't great, but I think it's solid.

hell yeah. i think he will really compliment him well. he will help the entire lineup. he excels in the transition game. and him on the powerplay. he doesnt have a weber shot by any means, but a nice one timer. and he ALWAYS gets it on net. on the powerplay, its huge.

i wish they could keep him. if not, hope he goes out to colorado and just racks up points quarterbacking those young guns.
